Golden Slipper Day at Rosehill Posted on March 18, 2016March 18, 2016 | Posted by Chris Nelson Chris Nelson’s Preview RACE 1 – NATHANS FAMOUS EPONA STAKES No. 6 SWEET FIRE – Chris Waller trained mare who was a little unlucky last time out at Randwick behind the in form Heavens Above. She meets that runner 3.5kg better off at the weights in this race tomorrow, has to be a big chance to turn the tables. (5) ALL CERISE meets Heavens Above a whopping 6kg better off for only a half-length defeat, she’s in outstanding form although unknown over the 1900m trip. (2) HEAVENS ABOVE cannot be totally overlooked either even with those hefty weight turnarounds. (4) VERGARA drops back from the Group 1 Coolmore last week when not far away. Suggested Bet – Box up the top 4 selections in exotics RACE 2 – IRRESISTIBLE POOLS & SPAS N E MANION CUP No. 4 LIBRAN – Capped off a couple of good runs from a break with a solid 2000m Randwick win last time out. Can’t see any issue with the 2400m tomorrow, if anything it should suit him even more. (9) DEE I CEE is racing consistently and did run 4th to Mongolian Khan in the NZ Derby four starts back. (7) MAURUS meets Libran a couple of kilo’s better off at the weights for the last start 3.2 length defeat, include again (2) AUVRAY French import who put in a lovely first up run, trip suits, right on track for the Sydney Cup. Suggested Bet – Box up the top 4 selections in exotics RACE 3 – THE SEBRING No. 14 EGYPTIAN SYMBOL – Heavily supported last time out however just drifted too far back giving away a lengthy start before finding the line nicely. She can find ways to get beaten however off the inside gate tomorrow she’ll end up with a cushy run, looks great value. (2) COUNTERATTACK the race favourite who will have to come from a wide draw, his form is definitely good enough though. (3) SANTA ANA LANE Victorian with a first up win under his belt, fitter and right in the mix even from the extreme outside gate. (1) TAKEDOWN just missed first up, fitter and will appreciate the slightly longer trip. Suggested Bet – Egyptian Symbol each-way RACE 4 – RANVET STAKES No. 4 HAURAKI – First of the Group 1’s can go Godolphin’s way with this John O’Shea trained gelding who has chased home the mighty Winx at his last couple of starts. Third up to the 2000m tomorrow is ideal and he should go very close. (3) DIBAYANI comes out of the same last start race behind Winx running second, he’ll gain a perfect trail from the inside draw. (1) CRITERION failed to fire first up however we all know how good he is and rising to 2000m is much more suitable. (5) THE UNITED STATES Hard to catch however capable of anything on his day. Suggested Bet – Box Exacta Nos. 3 & 4 RACE 5 – GEORGE RYDER STAKES No. 5 WINX – Shooting for 8 wins in succession and interestingly again meets First Seal who has had her measure on all 5 occasions they have met to date. She’s a better horse now though Winx and should be winning once again in what is an outstanding race. (1) TURN ME LOOSE likely leader, flying and will give these plenty to chase. (6) FIRST SEAL dominant first up and certainly not disgraced last time, better suited out to this trip. (8) PRESS STATEMENT didn’t have the clearest of runs last time out when narrowly beaten. Can surprise. Suggested Bet – Box up the top 4 selections in exotics RACE 6 – ROSEHILL GUINEAS No. 1 TARZINO – Last year’s Victoria Derby winner who has put in two good performances this time in and will be suited stepping up to the longer trip. Keep in mind his exceptional effort when up to this distance for the first time last prep running 3rd in the Vase at Moonee Valley (2) LE ROMIAN lightly raced holds a great record and did turn the tables on Press Statement last time out. (3) VANBRUGH in the right hands and probably looking for this trip now. (7) RIVER WILD improving type who is another likely looking for the longer trip. Suggested Bet – Tarzino to win RACE 7 – GOLDEN SLIPPER No. 1 EXTREME CHOICE – Confident trainer Mick Price can take the Golden Slipper back to Melbourne with this unbeaten colt. Very strong to the line in the Blue Diamond and keep in mind he did win his first start going this way at Randwick. (2) FLYING ARTIE stablemate to the above runner who chased him home in the Blue Diamond from an outside gate. Drawn more favourably this time around and looks the logical danger. (13) YANKEE ROSE one at odds who has done nothing wrong. (3) DEFCON loaded with ability, will get back and charge home. Suggested Bet – Extreme Choice to win RACE 8 – BANJO GALAXY No. 14 ENGLISH – Last year’s Golden Slipper runner up who resumed with a terrific effort to win at Randwick weaving her way through the field to go home right over the top of the leaders. No reason she can’t repeat the dose here. (13) FELL SWOOP hasn’t done much wrong in his career to date, his Oakleigh Plate run was a good one. (14) OUR BOY MALACHI drawn wide however I wouldn’t be jumping off him just yet. (17) MALAGUERRA has some of the best form lines in the country, win wouldn’t surprise. Suggested Bet – Box up the top 4 selections in exotics RACE 9 – TAB BIRTHDAY CARD STAKES No. 1 CRADLE ME – Sit/sprint type of mare who didn’t get a lot of room until late first up however that’s the way she has to be ridden. She’ll gain a lovely smother off the inside gate here and if clear early enough can mow these down late. (4) BRING ME THE MAID resumes, holds a very good fresh record and has been jumping out well. Big market watch. (8) SULTRY FEELING has the right form lines beating home Peeping last start who then went on to win last week’s Group 1 Coolmore. (5) BROOK ROAD look for her to be motoring home late. Suggested Bet – Cradle Me each-way/market watch Bring Me The Maid RACE 10 – NEWCASTLE NEWMARKET No. 5 SADDLER’S LAKE – Resumes, won her first two starts from a spell last campaign before a close up effort behind Winx when not enjoying the best of luck. Drawn the inside gate and the blinkers go on, should run very well. (3) EUCADOR backed first up in a stronger race when not too far away, trialled well prior and is a likely improver. (6) BULL POINT impossible to follow however if he holds his last start winning form must be included. (10) ARTISTRY fitter for the first up run and in the right hands. Suggested Bet – Saddlers Lake each-way Best Bet Race 10 No.5 Saddler’s Lake Best Value Race 3 No.14 Egyptian Symbol Quaddie 45% 1, 2 1, 2, 3, 13 4, 13, 14, 17 1, 4, 8 Bet Now!
