Deane Lester’s Pakenham Preview Posted on December 8, 2017December 8, 2017 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 2 NO.5 SOHO RUBY Talented mare SOHO RUBY should be fitter for one run back from a spell and looks the one to beat when she contests the Fillies and Mares Benchmark 78 Handicap (1400m). The four year old ran on strongly when finishing 3rd behind BRUGAL REWARD over 1200 metres at Ballarat on November 25. She will relish a step up in distance on the spacious Pakenham track and looks well placed to record her third career victory. RACE 3 NO.7 FONTEIN LAD The best bet of the day is FONTEIN LAD when he runs in the Benchmark 78 Handicap (2000m). The four year old is working up to winning form with three good runs back from a spell and drops significantly in weight on his last start 2nd over 2060 metres at Cranbourne on November 24. That is a strong form reference and, with added fitness, FONTEIN LAD should be winning. SuperPick - Race 3 No. 7 FONTEIN LAD - Win Boost RACE 6 NO.11 SILVERA SILVERA has enjoyed a good campaign and looks a strong winning chance again when he contests the David Bourke Memorial (1600m). The four year old found the distance too short when running 4th in the Subzero Handicap (1400m) at Flemington on November 9 but looks ideally suited at this class and distance. It’s a competitive race with several seasoned campaigners, however SILVERA appeals as the horse on the rise that should run well again. Bet Now! *A maximum of one SuperPick on an individual race.
