Deane Lester’s Flemington Best Bets Posted on November 2, 2018 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Best Bets RACE 2 NO.2 VERRY ELLEEGANT VERRY ELLEEGANT can consolidate her favouritism for Thursday’s Kennedy Oaks (2500m) with a win in the Wakeful Stakes (2000m). The daughter of Zed has only had five starts for three wins and two seconds including a strong last start win in the Ethereal Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield on October 20. She has only had two runs for the Darren Weir stable and looks to be improving with every start. She is drawn for a cheap run and should continue on her winning way. RACE 3 NO.1 OSBORNE BULLS OSBORNE BULLS is developing into one of the nation’s best sprinters and looks the class runner when he contests the TAB Stakes (1200m). The five year old has an imposing record of eight wins and four placings from 13 starts to date and comes off a last start barnstorming third behind REDZEL in the TAB Everest (1200m) at Randwick on October 13. That is an irresistible formline for this Group 2 contest and, whilst he has topweight of 59kg, he’s a good weight carrier and represents the best bet of the day. RACE 5 NO.10 SUNLIGHT The Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) is now known as the stallion making race for the three year olds, however the lone filly in the field SUNLIGHT can spoil the party this season and beat the boys. The Tony McEvoy trained filly has built a fine record of seven wins from 11 starts and can bounce back to winning form after a luckless 7th against the older horses in last week’s Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley. She returns to her own age group, looks ideally drawn to make her own luck and regular rider Luke Currie regains the ride. This is a highly competitive race but SUNLIGHT is equal to the task and represents good value in this field. Market Market
