Darren Clayton’s Redcliffe Preview Posted on March 25, 2022March 25, 2022 | Posted by Darren Clayton Race 1 SQUIRE (7) will be relying on some luck but if the map is in his favour, he looms as the knockout from the stalking spot. He was dead game from the breeze last start in a stinging 1.54.2 mile behind Another Statement. MAJOR GENERALJUJON (1) led throughout from this same gate three runs back for a tidy win. He gets all the options and with the other likely leader Four Starzzz Forsa being run down in successive starts, they may roll the dice for the snipers shot. BOHANNAN (8) will get the chance to have an early look to plot his course and either poles or running line can see him feature. BEAU CISHLOM (5) cops the tough gate but has been in good form and was a winner here three back from gate 6. Selections: 7-1-8-5 Suggested Bet: SQUIRE (7) to win Race 2 WATTS UP SUNSHINE (8) has been sectionally superb down in Sydney and heads for a Qld campaign and despite the tough gate first up, a solid tempo looks to eventuate which can see him home. CALL ME KEITH (1) has good speed off the arm and will appreciate a return to the front line. A big winner when charging home two starts back at Marburg, he is in great form this campaign. SOHO SINATRA (9) has been transformed under Donny Smith and has displayed good versatility, arriving from three poles last week. LOVE YOUR WORK (2) took control out in front last week to claim a tidy win, he might just need to do the heavy lifting this time. Selections: 8-1-9-2 Suggested Bet: WATTS UP SUNSHINE (8) to win Race 3 TOMMY LINCOLN (4) may have beat himself last week when starting fav and not looking at all comfortable including in the preliminary. That was FFA company and back to this grade he can bounce back with vengeance. KEAYANG MARVEN (5) was sent to sit parked once the leader came up for air after a ridiculous early pace last start and pulled clear for his second successive win and a threepeat is achievable. IT AINT THE MONEY (6) has the wide gate but can be sent forward off the arm and after successive wins will be right in the fight. MAYWYNS COURAGE (8) scored his first Redcliffe win here last week when leading throughout. At his best in front, he can be chasing. Selections: 4-5-6-8 Suggested Bet: TOMMY LINCOLN (4) to win Race 4 STAR GALLERIA (2) fired out of the machine to lead here two starts back when returning from a spell and first up for the new stable. A smart winner in front, he can take them all the way once again. RUBIES FOR TASH (1) lands back in the stables of Shawn Grimsey and has trialled on this deck in readiness when zipping home a slick closing 400m. She will stalk the speed. TURN IT UP (8) held the chasers last start when resuming from a spell with an all the way victory. 1 from 1 now here on The Triangle, he is a classy customer. DEUS EX (7) did it the tough way when parked last start. He will be buried here but the pegs can dominate the results. Selections: STAR GALLERIA (2), RUBIES FOR TASH (1), TURN IT UP (8), DEUS EX (7) Suggested Bet: Flexi trifecta 2 / 1-7-8 Race 5 CAPTAIN NEMO (4) was angled in behind the leader here last week but when put into open space in the stretch was outsprinted to the line. Leading throughout two starts back, this looks within reach. BLISSFULL LILLY (2) pounced on the poles last start and took them all the way from gate 4 against her own sex. This will be tougher, but she lands options from the improved gate. CAPTAINS PICK (7) will be better suited with an inside passage here after losing ground wide on the home bend last week. BETTERTHANDIAMONDS (9) will strip fitter following her last start when resuming. A good 2nd to Jasper at her return, the gate dents her hopes. Selections: 4-2-7-9 Suggested Bet: CAPTAIN NEMO (4) to win Race 6 BOMBADIER JUJON (4) has chased home Soho Sinatra at his past two starts, the latest here last week when forced to settle at the rear after an early scrimmage. Back to the front line is a big plus. INFATUATION (2) had superior closing power last start to finish over the top for a smart win at his third Qld appearance. From this alley he can make a big play. PACIFIC DRUMS (3) took control early from the wide gate last start and was on the keen side. Fading late, he is a gazelle off the arm and a return to the sprint trip is a big help. ROCK BOTTOM (6) arrived in the last stride last start to deny Four Starzzz Forsa the victory, but he is given no help from the outside paint. Selections: 4-2-3-6 Suggested Bet: BOMBADIER JUJON (4) to win Race 7 ISOLATION (1) could not see it out after leading them up from gate 3 here last week as Molliesmaryelle delivered a first over crush. The options from the ace appeal. OBI ONE (4) has been a model of consistency and just never had a chance against the tempo last start. A strong effort in this line up can be expected. GOOD AS IT GETS (9) is one of a handful of new arrivals to the Trent Dawson stable and was luckless when beaten a head first up in the new barn. SMOOTH CASH (7) took control from a wide gate last start when gunned down late, not sure if being saved his is his best pattern. Selections: 1-4-9-7 Suggested Bet: ISOLATION (1) to win Race 8 THE HERVEY BAY (9) held on for 3rd last start from gate 1 but is probably not suited to the inside alley as he lack the press button speed out of the machine. With time to wind up, he strikes the right type of contest. WILLIEWA LIGHTNING (1) has not had a marble for a few starts so landing tight here looks ideal after running home behind some sharp ones at his past two. THE IRISH EAGLE (7) might just find himself behind the leader and with that map can prove a knockout hope. AIR TIME (6) was a tidy 3rd last start but is afforded no favours from the carpark for new trainer Trent Dawson. Selections: 9-1-7-6 Suggested Bet: THE HERVEY BAY (9) to win Race 9 JASPER (3) claimed a higher-grade mares contest than she faces here last start when proving too slick in the closing stages. From this gate, the class difference looks pronounced. SHE OWNS THE DAY (2) copped a tough gate here on Tuesday and finished near the rear as a result. The improved gate in mare’s only company can see a sharper effort. BLAZE COOPS (5) was sent back to the trials following an error last start and was a different horse when sent to the front in the trial. CROSSED LEGS (1) held on for 2nd last week behind Charm Offensive when 4m in arrears and comes up with the gate to feature once again. Selections: 3-2-5-1 Suggested Bet: JASPER (3) to win Race 10 RED CASTLETON (7) was too classy in front last time out when resuming from a spell to take them all the way. With the early options as the lone second line runner, the added fitness and mobile conditions are a big plus. STRESS FACTOR (3) was repelled for the lead role last week before receiving running line cover but unable to go on with it. If he can find the front, he will give a sight. GARLAND GREENE (5) scored victory from the stand start here last week and is racing well but cops a tough draw out wide. MAJESTIC SIMON (6) will be tightened from his run here last week off 30m when returning from a spell. Selections: 7-3-5-6 Suggested Bet: RED CASTLETON (7) to win Race 11 In a field full of debutants RISE ABOVE ALL (2) has looked the best at the trials for this contest which is the first 2YO race of the season in Qld. The gelded son of Huntsville is trained by Shannon Price. THE GROGMOTHER (4) put together a smart trial in readiness for the debut with the John Boserio trained filly looking a danger. EMPRESS BYELINE (3) is by Betting Line and is the first foal of a six-win mare that qualified at Marburg. BAHAMAS (5) is one of two runners for trainer Shawn Grimsey facing a tough gate. Selections: 2-4-3-5 Suggested Bet: RISE ABOVE ALL (2) to win Market Market
