Darren Clayton’s Albion Park Preview Posted on July 22, 2022July 22, 2022 | Posted by Darren Clayton Race 1 BEYOND DELIGHT (2) was sent out a heavily supported red figure favourite in the 4YO Champs last week and after a tough trip wilted. A subsequent issue looks to have been treated and from this alley he can look to bounce back with venom. CAPTAIN CRUSADER (1) found the line in nice style last time out following on from his down the line run behind Ladies In Red in the Rising Sun after facing a tough gate. The improved alley is a big asset for this contest. HEZ DUSTY (3) was shuffled to three back from gate 1 here last week but found the open space to dart through and claim the prize. Mapping will be key to his close out hopes. WATTS UP SUNSHINE (9) ran the winner to 3m in the 4YO Champs last week when taking inside runs and can secure a handy trip in this. Selections: 2-1-3-9 Suggested Bet: BEYOND DELIGHT (2) to win Race 2 BETTOR ISOLATE (10) was an omission from the 4YO Championship last week with this race firmly on the radar. A smart win from the pocket trail last start in the Rising Sun Consolation, he will be wide off the track but can savage the line with the right trip. SAGINAW (11) has some gait issues but when he puts it together has a nice turn of hoof. Wide off the track behind Cantfindabettorman last start, he can be tightened from his last outing. TRIPLE FOUR (9) will appreciate moving in one position to find a peg trip and if the 1 looks for an all the way effort, will be in a perfect stalking spot MY ULTIMATE COBBER (1) fought on to score in a new PB here last week from the front. The gate gives him options. Selections: 10-11-9-1 Suggested Bet: BETTOR ISOLATE (10) to win Race 3 MAAJIDA (2) started from gate 1 last week and sent out deep into the red as a result. Within 300m she was in all sorts of bother when buried. She can stay in the running line if needed this time to bounce back with vengeance. FAIRY TINKABELL (7) was finding the line in slick order last start after starting from gate 9, not too far behind them. Maajida getting crossed last week would give them some confidence of taking an early shot. MOMENTSLIKETHESE (9) has grabbed 2nd in both starts in Brisbane this campaign, getting within a neck of Town Echo in the Golden Girl. The gate makes it tricky. THE HONEY QUEEN (6) made an error turning for home last start after taking the trail behind Maajida. She has the early hustle to fire some early bullets. Selections: 2-7-9-6 Suggested Bet: MAAJIDA (2) to win Race 4 DOFF YOUR CAP (1) was off 30m in the DJA last start and under the circumstances the effort was full of merit behind Global Flight. Taking a week off last week’s feature, he lands all the options and has the class to capitalise. WEE MAN TROUBLE (8) has a nice record from the mobile and lands conditions to get the easy trip in behind the speed. Runner-up in the Redcliffe Cup last time, he will need to step up but the map is favourable. TOUGH MONARCH (2) will relish the improved gate after starting wider off the front line here last week and just fading in the latter stages at the mile. His record is 2 from 3 over the AP 2138m including winning this race last year. CREDIT MASTER (3) was in behind the speed here last week and using the passing lane had the power to land the prize. Stripping fitter, the map is a concern. Selections: 1-8-2-3 Suggested Bet: DOFF YOUR CAP (1) to win Race 5 AMORE VITA (2) was beaten by a combination of firing up and pulling hard and a sizzling tempo from the 1200 as Steno tried to take her out of play. That was from gate 12 and back to the tight front line gate the bounce back is on. STENO (5) will strip fitter from her run in the SE Oaks where she set the tempo in front and what a hot tempo it was with a last 800 of 54.5. First up in that battle and holding 3rd, she will be firing some early bullets. SOHO HISTORIA (11) is the X-factor addition to the race, arriving from Victoria for Emma Stewart after putting together five in succession. The gate does her no favours. RACY ROXY (4) darted through to claim the SE Oaks after enjoying the economical trip against the poles. She will not get that trip here but is 2 from 2 at the AP 2138m. Selections: 2-5-11-4 Suggested Bet: AMORE VITA (2) to win Race 6 LEAP TO FAME (11) has been super in both runs since resuming from a spell, big in defeat in the Rising Sun when three-wide at the 800m and then sitting parked in last week’s Derby. He can overcome the wide gate to adda Qld Derby to his NSW Derby success. CANTFINDABETTORMAN (2) is 3 from 3 since arriving with the McCarthy stable, all 3 wins coming here at The Creek. Making the closing shot a winning one up the passing lane last week in the SE Derby, he should be in a similar position. TIMS A TROOPER (10) claimed the Redcliffe Derby four runs back and then placed in Qld Sun behind Kashed Up and followed that with a placing in the Rising Sun Consolation behind Bettor Isolate. He can hit the board. MUSCLE BART (1) will appreciate the easy trip in behind the action and will relish the turnaround after facing gate 13 last week. Selections: 11-2-10-1 Suggested Bet: LEAP TO FAME (11) to win Race 7 MAKE MINE MEMPHIS (2) is absolutely flying, being sectionally super over the past month. He looked like he was going to sweep over the top when 2nd to Rockin Marty. The hoof is knocking on the door of victory. I CAST NO SHADOW (9) may not have the best numbers at this type of trip but back to this grade secures his opportunity to turn it around after being hemmed away from gate 1 last week in the Sunshine Sprint. A GS WHITE SOCKS (4) has put out some mixed returns this campaign, fading last week after a tough trip. An improved gate helps his chances. MALCOLMS RHYTHM (13) could not hold leaders back last start which proved the difference behind Aphorism. The 13-furlongs helps his chances. Selections: 2-9-4-13 Suggested Bet: MAKE MINE MEMPHIS (2) to win Race 8 SPIRIT OF ST LOUIS (3) was shuffled to three back in the Sunshine Sprint and was attacking the line to grab 2nd, getting past Turn It Up who was in the trail. Finding a way to win first up at this journey from the trail, he might just find himself in front which would be a huge asset to own. MACH SHARD (11) was the best of the finishers off the poles in the Sunshine Sprint when finishing 4th behind Better Eclipse. With the right cart into the contest, he will relish the trip. ROCKIN MARTY (12) is yet to miss the money in six appearances here at The Creek and was runner-up in this race last year. He will be wide and attacking the line, it just depends what cart into the battle he receives. MAJESTIC CRUISER (4) has had this race firmly in the cross-hairs since arriving in Qld and cannot be underestimated despite the Grimson stable having limited success this campaign. A win here would overcome that disappointment. The chances don’t end there with LIKE A WILDFIRE (7), TRIPLE EIGHT (1) and last week’s Sunshine Sprint winner BETTER ECLIPSE (8) far from out of it. Selections: 3-11-12-4 Suggested Bet: MACH SHARD (11) each-way Race 9 ONE BIG SHEW (1) took the trail last start before owning superior closing power to charge over the top of them. He lands the gate to avail the options and with nice change up speed off a helmet, will be in the perfect spot. TEAGAN BANNER (3) went to the Marburg Western Star last start where his chances expired soon after the start when making an error. He has the early hustle to look for the poles which would be a huge plus. CALA JANE (8) scored the win up the passing lane last time out and will be enjoying the economical trip once again. YOUNG CONQUEROR (5) was a fighting 3rd last start when working hard in the run and receives no favours from this alley again. Selections: 1-3-8-5 Suggested Bet: ONE BIG SHEW (1) to win Race 10 SMIRKS LIKA BOSS (3) was approaching the home bend in the Paleface Adios and looked to have plenty in reserve after a slick 27.3 third split before blowing up and losing his chance. With a handy trial to earn the return, he can press on to find the front. FOR REAL LIFE (7) held on for 2nd in the Redcliffe Sales Final two runs back chasing Tardelli. Too classy in a lesser grade race last start, he is given no favours from gate 7 but looks well above average. MY ULTIMATE JACKO (5) has finished 2nd in both runs back from a spell behind Jewel Melody, including in last week’s G1 feature. The added fitness is a big help. LADY DIGBY (1) claimed a maiden breaker three runs back and lands the right gate to follow through. Selections: 3-7-5-2 Suggested Bet: SMIRKS LIKA BOSS (3) to win Market Market
