Chris Nelson’s Saturday Rosehill Preview Posted on April 25, 2024April 25, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Racing returns to Rosehill after a hugely successful autumn carnival, no more Group & Listed racing until the spring. Although not drawn well the odds for PRESIDENT suggest he’s worth an each-way ticket. Nothing wrong with his debut performance before outclassed in the Skyline behind Storm Boy, Prost & others. Liked his recent trial & with luck early he can figure in the finish. PISCES was just over 4 lengths behind Straight Charge when we last saw him, lead-up trials all good enough to give this a shake fresh. SEASCAPE had support at Gosford when bolting in, this is harder of course however could hardly have been more impressive. Chances do not end there. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet: PRESIDENT EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 2 Usual wide open Midway! EYE PEA OH gets the nod as she made good ground with a big weight first up & has a better second up record. She draws ideally to settle close enough & any give in the ground won’t be an issue. OLIVIA’S SPIRIT is another who draws well, got the money first up at Wyong & looks to have plenty of upside. BIGRAPHER looks very close to another win, include. Numbers: 11 – 7 – 5 – 17 Suggested Bet: EYE PEA OH EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 3 Very open race, there’s a few of those today! I’m looking for value once again putting the in-form DESIAH on top. Yes’, she’s been going around in midweek class of late however performing very well winning 2 of her last 3 with a close second sandwiched in between. She draws well for Tyler Schiller & I can’t see the additional 100m being of any concern. GREEN SHADOWS got the job done first up, never far from the money is already a second up winner. RHYTYM OF LOVE drops back from a placing in Listed company last start. Should get every possible chance from the pole draw. Numbers: 10 – 7 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet: DESIAH EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 4 To the Highway we go! MARTINI MUMMA comes to town after blowing her rivals away in successive races at Wagga & Goulburn. Both were over 1000m & the way she found the line I can only see the additional 100m being a positive. She’s won those two outings by a cumulative 11.32L & drops 5kg off the latest win. PERENNIAL has the right form lines however the wrong gate, he’s going to need plenty of luck should he start however should things pan out he’s right in the hunt. Numbers: 13 – 3 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet: MARTINI MUMMA TO WIN RACE 5 Clearly the weakest race RAZETA has faced for some time, she’s been going around in Group 3’s Golden & Silver Eagle’s & even her latest when running on into 5th was harder than this. She’s got the big weight however 3kg of that has been offset with a claim & I think she’s overs in the market. MISS HADES is flying & clearly one of the hardest to beat whilst FALL FOR CINDY has always shown good ability, the drop back in distance is the concern. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 4 – 11 Suggested Bet: RAZETA EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 6 Open race, wouldn’t be taking short odds about any runner. WEST OF AFRICA only had the two starts last prep & was unplaced on each occasion, first up was held-up & second up maybe a touch flat? Well drawn & at his best he’s better than most of these. Certainly no knock the very consistent LET’S TRY who returned a winner at Newcastle, this is obviously harder however not that much & he’s well up to it. KEEP YOUR COOL is flying, chance off a wide draw with luck. I’ve given up on CIGAR FLICK, should she win it will be without me & I’m completely fine with that! Numbers: 5 – 1 – 11 – 6 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 7 Going to take a punt on the widely drawn HARD TO SAY who has clearly better form lines than any other runner in the race. Yes’, he’s going to need some magic from Nash Rawiller to either slot in or at worst find cover, he’s been close to the likes of King Of Sparta, Lady Laguna & Red Card of late, any of those would start favourite in this race. WATEGOS resumes with two trial wins under his belt, no doubt he’s been set for a first up kill & will give them plenty to run down. Likely too short for AGE OF KINGS however no surprise to see him run into a top four spot. Note BARBER has been gelded. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 8 I’m siding with WATERFORD here & will be looking for market support as he is resuming. His first up outing last prep resulted in a Group 2 3rd, he repeated that performance second up & I liked his recent soft trial, should be ready to go. IKNOWASTAR lumped the big weight to beat all bar the winner first up, up in grade today however down 6kg & fitter, just has to be a winning chance. AMOKURA a blow out hope who should be included in all exotics. Numbers: 4 – 10 – 9 – 3 Suggested Bet: WATERFORD EACH-WAY. RACE 9 Would have to think CITY OF LIGHTS is the runner to beat here. She’s certainly building a tidy record having won 4 of her 7 starts to date & she looks destined for better races than this. She’s won 2 of her 3 outings this prep with the defeat coming in Group 3 company when clocking the fastest final 200 of the race from near last in the run. Gate one, no weight, appeals strongly. Pervade may need some luck from an awkward draw, third-up should be ready to fire should things pan out. CAMAGUEY in the place mix. Numbers: 14 – 7 – 12 – 4 Suggested Bet: CITY OF LIGHTS TO WIN. RACE 10 He’s overdue STARMAN however doesn’t look badly placed in this final race from the good gate with Nash to steer. Off a similar month break two starts back he beat all bar the winner here & any replication of that has him in the mix. Our old mate GRACILISTYLA resumes, I’ve sworn not to tip him on top this prep as he’s just a tease, no reason I can’t tip him in the placings though, he likes those. SILENT IMPACT not out of it fresh. Numbers: 7 – 10 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet: STARMAN EACH-WAY (small bet). Market Market
