Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on December 5, 2024December 5, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Racing at Eagle Farm on Saturday as the local Summer Carnival rolls on. Our leading trainer Tony Gollan holds a strong hand in this opening race for the 2yo’s with LOCKYER & FORMULA ROSSA the clear market leaders. I’m going to lean to the latter who made good ground at her debut on a heavy Sunshine Coast track, the additional 200m should suit. LOCKYER did a good job on his debut & has been back to the trials since winning a heat, wide draw? MR DEMOCRAT can improve off his debut. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet: FORMULA ROSSA (small bet). RACE 2 Happy to give the very consistent EL PENSADOR another chance. He just keeps running on in his races without quite getting there. His latest was just that aided by a strong tempo over the mile suggesting the rise to 1800m today is very suitable. JEALOUS broke through last start for a well-deserved win, no reason she can’t go close once again. MISS CHENERY paired out with JEALOUS last start, meets her 1.5kg better for the half-length defeat, must include. Numbers: 8 – 11 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet: EL PENSADOR TO WIN. RACE 3 Wouldn’t be going hard in this race as a case can be made for all runners both positive & negative. ALDEENAARY had every chance when well supported two runs back, he then finished well back the latest. Not a great recommendation however I’m suggesting he’s looking for the step up in trip & if double-figure odds is worth a small investment. BAK DA MAN loves the 2400m, concern is he hasn’t raced for 5 weeks, will he have the fitness levels? Include UP AND UNDER however I have my doubt about him running a strong mile & a half. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet: ALDEENAARY EACH-WAY (very small bet). RACE 4 Really looking forward to seeing TEN TRINITY SQUARE go around here. He’s only had three career starts, one on New Years Day the other two more recently & on each occasion he’s shown a very impressive turn of foot putting his rivals to the sword. I’m confident he can bring that form to town. Always been a wrap for BLUE SPINEL who returns from a break, logical danger. MY SNOW QUEEN & BEWS in the mix whilst THE ASTRONOMER isn’t out of it, just needs luck early on off a wide gate. Numbers: 14 – 9 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet: TEN TRINITY SQUARE TO WIN. RACE 5 CIGAR FLICK appears very well placed in this race. She’s had the two runs back from a break with the latest being at Caulfield when running home strongly from the back of the field. She’s raced here at Eagle Farm only once for a win on Tiara Day when breaking the course record. She’ll handle any track condition, just looks the winner! DANNY’S ST DARCI has been going around in Group races of late placing twice, she’s the danger should there be one. Include 10 & also 12 who could be long odds. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 10 – 12 Suggested Bet: CIGAR FLICK TO WIN. RACE 6 Tempo doesn’t appear strong in this race with I AM ARTIE & CAPTAIN FENKEL likely to have things their own way. The former has won 6 of his 7 starts this prep with the defeat being by only a small margin, he’s going to get things to suit & can easily build on that terrific record. JUNIPAL had excuses last start, prior form was winning form, can bounce back here. BETTCHA THE CROWN is very versatile, may end up going forward? Appears the other main hope in the race. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet: I AM ARTIE TO WIN. RACE 7 The Gateway is a very important race as there’s a free ticket for connections into next year’s Group 1 Stradbroke. I’m confident TRANSATLANTIC can get the job done, he was dominant stepping up to 1400m second up at the Sunshine Coast & yes, he did get a suitable race shape however from the good gate today should gain another cosy run. REDFORD is untapped, he could be well above average, his run last start was a good one overcoming issues in the straight to run home well & beat all bar the winner. MISTER BIANCO fitter & will relish 1400m. BLAZING HARRY right in it should he go around here & not down south. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 15 – 9 Suggested Bet: TRANSATLANTIC TO WIN. RACE 8 The Bribie is a cracking race full of high-quality sprinting types headed by the local star ROTHFIRE. Still down in the weights I’m sticking with the super consistent mare SHALAA’S MOMENT who was a good first up winner at the Sunshine Coast when able to park a lot closer to the lead. She loves this track & trip, never runs a bad race & can be smothered away until the gaps hopefully appear in the straight. ZARASTRO & ROTHFIRE are the quality, underestimate at your peril. BEZIQUE is a smart mare who beat ROTHFIRE in a recent trial, include her as well. Numbers: 11 – 2 – 1 – 14 Suggested Bet: SHALAA’S MOMENT EACH-WAY. RACE 9 Tricky race, MISTER BIANCO now goes to the Gateway which is unfortunate… for me anyway! GIVE ME SPACE & ESTRONDO both went around at Doomben last week in the very heavy ground, doubt either yard would run unless they were fully recovered however there’s just that niggle. At this stage I will lean to GIVE ME SPACE who should enjoy the step up in distance. SUPERHERO can run well, fresher than the other pair. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 10 Open race to wind up the day as the market suggests. BULLION BOY can land a spot better than midfield in a race which doesn’t look like being run at any great tempo. Very wet track against last start & I like him back to 1400m. OCEAN ZAR should be ready at her third run back; drier ground will aid her chances. TAVS was a good thing beaten first local start, ran on soundly the next, will get back, will hit the line strongly once again. Numbers: 2 – 15 – 16 – 8 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Market Market
