Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on June 27, 2024June 27, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 More Group 1 racing at Eagle Farm where we open up the card with a quality 3yo fillies affair where I’m with the ex-Kiwi CASSIERE who looked terrific winning on debut in New Zealand before running home strongly first run for Tony Gollan at Doomben recently. She looks very promising & can measure up to the stronger company today. NAVYONTHEHIGHWAY also rises in grade, can’t knock what she’s doing & she showed plenty of grit to get home the latest. PURE PARADISE in the mix, may be a little unders though in early markets? Numbers: 11 – 9 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet: CASSIERE EACH-WAY. RACE 2 DEPTH OF CHARACTER looks well placed to make it 2 wins from 3 starts here. Zoomed home to score on debut at Canterbury before solid here a fortnight back after not having much in his favour. This is no harder & the 1400m suits. HEINOUS was ok in the same race, 1400m still a query however strips much fitter. STEEL STRIKE will lead, may take some catching as was the case last start. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet: DEPTH OF CHARACTER TO WIN. RACE 3 Tough race. Prepared to give MILLANE another chance although saying that it’s not as if he’s been disappointing having missed a placing only twice from 7 runs this prep. He may need luck from the wide draw however J. Mac to steer will go a long way towards getting it. HATCHET is fitter second up & is a good fresh horse whilst HIDDEN WEALTH will likely again be ridden on speed which was a successful change of tactics last start. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 11 – 1 Suggested Bet: Box up top 3 selections in exotics. RACE 4 The Battle Of The Bush final is an absolute raffle as we have form lines from right across the state! Grass tracks, dirt tracks, sand tracks you name it, it’s all here & finding the winner is a very difficult task. I’ll go with JACK BE LUCKY who’s close up effort at Ipswich behind a smart type is good enough for this. THE CARPENTER has been flying this prep winning all 4 starts, he can measure up. ART BY CONCORDER & OFFICE JIM have been to town in the past & raced competitively in these types of affairs. Numbers: 12 – 11 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 5 PRINCESS RHAENYS clocked in second this race last year & looks primed to go one better this time around. She has the extra run under her belt on this occasion & comes off a solid win here last start when sitting deep. THALASSOPHILE will have no issue with the longer trip, looks a suitable race & the obvious danger whilst DENY KNOWLEDGE who will lead isn’t without some chance if allowed to get away with some cheap sectionals. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet: Box up top 2 selections in exotics. RACE 6 KNIGHT’S CHOICE beat all bar Fawkner Park here 2 weeks ago in the Q22 & that runner is well up in the markets for the Caulfield Cup in the spring. Based on that & his consistency he’s a big chance to get away with this race. SPIRIT RIDGE draws well, rolls forward, Maloney will give him every possible. I’ve been with VOW AND DECLARE his last couple, he needs a dry track, should that be the case he’s in the mix once again. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet: KINIGHT’S CHOICE TO WIN. RACE 7 Toowoomba trained mare COTTEE is worth an each-way ticket. She’s had the three runs back, been close up the last couple & tumbles down in the weights. Her record here is a good one & she goes well for Angela Jones. Thought CHARTERHOUSE could be an improver coming out of the same race as COTTEE & third-up, he was a third-up winner last prep landing the Cranbourne Cup. IKNOWASTAR is speed & no doubt take some running down, another to fall in the weights. Numbers: 14 – 4 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet: COTTEE EACH-WAY. RACE 8 Feature race of the day is the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara for the fillies & mares, always a super competitive affair. The obvious is BELLA NIPOTINA & I see no reason not to be with her as her form is so much stronger than her rivals. They only negative is the wide draw however Ryan Maloney if not able to slot her in can find cover. C’EST MAGIQUE was very impressive winning first up, looks the danger should there be one. Keen to see what the USA mare BUBBLE ROCK does, she ran well first local start & this has been the aim, don’t underestimate. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet: BELLA NIPOTINA TO WIN. RACE 9 The Healy Stakes winds up the day & I’m hoping the 4th emergency SHALAA’S MOMENT gains a start as she should be 4 from 4 this prep if not for being extremely unlucky here at her last outing. Badly held up she only saw daylight inside the final 100m savaging the line to just miss a placing. The ever consistent ALL THAT PIZZAZZ with J. Mac on will be charging home as will SHALAA’S MOMENT’s stable mate SHOOTING FOR GOLD who holds an impressive second up record. Numbers: 21 – 2 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet: SHALAA’S MOMENT EACH-WAY.
