Scott Embry’s Saturday Roebourne Preview Posted on June 27, 2024June 27, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 CALICO’S GIRL was a huge improver last start at Carnarvon and now heads to Port Hedland with Annie King’s team. Sat up on the speed over 1200 and finished second splitting War Tactics and The King’s Affair. Best run of her career and hopefully has now found her feet on the dirt. BENFIN similarly put in a ripper last weekend at Port Hedland when nosed out by Viking Forever. Repeats that performance and is a big threat. PLATINUM EXPRESS a new comer to the dirt. MONEY FOR MUSIC has been around for a long while now. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – CALICO’S GIRL WIN RACE 2 WAR WARRIOR won at Port Hedland at their opening meeting and since hasn’t quite been at the same level, however, this does look a bit easier than running into Espirito / Amelia’s Belief / Wakan Tanka. Winnable for him. TEST OF STRENGTH resumed 6 weeks ago at the opening meeting at Carnarvon and was no match for Protected Action but still hit the line well. Heads up to Roebourne (previous winner at the track) and while 1100 is still on the shorter side for him he commands plenty of respect. PROTECTED ACTION has beaten him before and can beat him again without surprising. JUSTHANDY has been going well all season. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – WAR WARRIOR WIN RACE 3 MONEY FOR OLD ROPE had his first start on the dirt at Roebourne off a 30 day freshen (having his 30th run of the preparation – what a warrior!) and got the job done over 1406m. He rises up 1.5kg here but gets out to an arguably even more suitable 1600m and with the dirt experience he should only improve. ZEEWIJK ran second to him last start but with only 6 riders in Roebourne he’s potentially going to be scratched – no available rider. KENTUCKY BLUE has been building and building. MERCURIUS should be a nice dirt horse. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – MONEY FOR OLD ROPE WIN RACE 4 SUPER SALSA was having his first start in the region and the punters didn’t forget to back him. 15 minutes before the jump he was in double figures and then all of a sudden he was into $5.50 and burst through late over 1100m to score. Same track, same distance, similar line-up. He should be there abouts again? COMPAK rolls forward and runs his usual honest race. DE LOVELY LAD is another jump and run type suited to Roebourne. DARE ME is enjoying life on the dirt. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – SUPER SALSA WIN RACE 5 ROCKING THE MERC and JACKEMJAMES have the same numerical form this time in: x112 and they clash here with alternate form lines and very similar winning credentials. They can both roll forward into positions and doubt there is much between them in betting or in the finish. Hard to split the pair really. CHEDDAR BOB won his maiden by 5.75L but Michael Heagney started smiling for the camera at the 300. Could have won by 20L. ROCKIN’ THE SILKS next best. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – ROCKING THE MERC WIN RACE 6 FIND YOUR MAN has been an ATM for loyal dirt punters so far this season and while 1800m is a bit of an unknown for him it’s hard to ignore the way he’s winning. Very few settle that far off them and pull deep to win at Roebourne and especially in a race where they’ve gone 2L faster than Class average. He’s flying. HEZAZEB gets 1.5kg on him and gets out to his pet distance. They grey is very capable of turning the tables. CROSSARO is still getting to full fitness. Patience. ACERMETRIC will improve at each run on the surface. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – FIND YOUR MAN WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,5 1,2,4,5 2,4,5 1,2 Market Market
