Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on October 19, 2023October 19, 2023 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Very average staying race to kick off the day where a surprise result wouldn’t shock one bit. I’ve been getting stuck into BAANONE for some time about his lack of consistency & now here I am putting him on top! His Toowoomba Cup 3rd two runs back should be good enough to suggest he’s some chance. BONNY EZRA has the better Sydney form, drop back to 2212m should work in his favour. DARK DREAM perhaps best of the rest. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet: Box up top 2 selections in exotics. RACE 2 The 2yo fillies face off here & we have one who is not a MISHANI coming out of the trials having performed well being ACCELAR who led throughout to win comfortably at Beaudesert last week. Had she drawn well she’d be on top however the extreme outside alley suggests she’s a good chance of being posted. I’ll lean to the race experienced TERRITORY ASH who wins on debut had she gone straight over the latter stages. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet: TERRITORY ASH & ACCELAR TO WIN (small bets) RACE 3 Tricky race don’t see a lot between a number of runners. The Sydney visitor INCA TRAIL is the unknown, certainly respecting however his form down south isn’t anything special. The third up ENCUBIERTO took time to get past the leader at the Sunshine Coast however once he did he really found the line, well drawn I like him out to the mile. RED DEFCON was good at Toowoomba two back before back in trip & sound the latest, gets to the mile again today. The blinkers went onto PORTOROSA at the Sunshine Coast & they did the trick; this is harder however cannot overlook. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet: ENCUBIERTO TO WIN (small bet) RACE 4 I’ve got ANDALUS on top here however I’m not overly sold & wouldn’t be jumping into a short price. His NZ Derby second certainly rates well for a race such as this & although unplaced all 3 runs in Australia keep in mind two of those were in Group 1 company. TENZING did a good job at his 1800m debut here recently, off & running before the home turn he stuck it out well right to the line. Spotted I AM EMPIRE making ground when resuming, will this be far enough second up? Numbers: 10 – 6 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 5 COTTEE put in a good run at Toowoomba second up making good ground from the back over 1200m. Up to 1500m here two weeks back he drew 15 of 15 suggesting he faced a bit of a task. Ridden positively from the outset by Angela Jones he sat on speed before holding off a late challenge. Up 100m today drawn more favourably he can prove hard to beat again. Stablemate CHATTY LADY is an unknown at 1600m, I’ll take the punt she’ll run it out solidly. REGAL POM draws poorly, chance with luck. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet: COTTEE EACH-WAY RACE 6 Thought MAGIC CHARLEE’s effort here last start over 200m less was very good working hard for the first part of the race before finding the front, he was only run down the final 50m. He hasn’t won at 1600m for some time however he draws ok here, can lead again & could prove very hard to get past. Chris Waller has plenty of acceptors in the race, QUALITY TIME & SHIBLI may be the better of the quartet. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet: MAGIC CHARLEE EACH-WAY (small bet) RACE 7 Taking the punt on the widely drawn FIXATED from the Heathcote stable. He’s third up here having run well both outings this prep & he should be ready for the step up in distance, he just needs a positive ride early & a little luck to slot in. EVOCATOR also draws out, back to 1400m with a 3 week break between runs suggests he’ll be nice & fresh. In a race where many of the main hopes draw poorly CRANKY HARRY doesn’t & looks the one who will get the right run. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet: FIXATED EACH-WAY RACE 8 TITANIUM was the best of good things beaten last week when unable to gain clear running at a vital stage in the straight. Out late he ran on however the bird had flown as did the hopes of yours truly! Not convinced dropping back to 1400m is suitable & although I haven’t got him on top he won’t be a losing result if the winner. Should there be money for SHA OF GOMER I’ll be following it in, not raced for 7 weeks his form prior was very good & he trialled well at Beaudesert last week, favourable gate as well. The consistent BROCKY & STORM THE FORTRESS in the mix as well. Numbers: 13 – 7 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet: SHA OF GOMER TO WIN/Saver TITANIUM RACE 9 SWEET MARGOT MAY is 4 from 4 first up & she can add successfully to that impressive record here. Nice soft trial at Beaudesert last week should have her ready to mow the leaders down late. POCKET FULL is racing in peak form, looked the winner on paper at Toowoomba & that’s how it turned out, he then backed that up with another win here two weeks ago, down in weight for this. MUNITIONS next best, closed nicely behind a promising type last start. Numbers: 6 – 10 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet: SWEET MARGOT MAY TO WIN RACE 10 Big field to close out the afternoon. Keen on the chances of LOST IN TRANSIT who trotted in his first two starts at home on the Sunshine Coast this prep before coming here two weeks agon when flashing home late at the end of 1000m. back to 1200m today looks tailor made. Throwing the emergency PIECE OF TURF in the mix, both local starts have been good & he’s been freshened up for this. CASINO LORD brings Group form from Sydney, STANDING ORDER’s barrier is a concern. Numbers: 4 – 21 – 5 – 11 Suggested Bet: LOST IN TRANSIT TO WIN Market Market
