Chris Nelson’s Saturday Doomben Preview Posted on November 7, 2024November 7, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Saturday racing at Doomben gets underway with an 1110m metre affair for the 2yo’s in which I’m leading to the Tony Gollan trained CANOODLING. Thought she did enough on debut here a fortnight back when beating all bar the winner who made it 2 from 2. SECRET SORT appears the logical danger, chased home Cuddles For Kimmy on debut, that one has since been beaten however from gate 1 he’ll get his chance. Best of the unraced brigade looks to be MR DEMOCRAT who won a recent Deagon trial & is closely related to the smart Steady Ready. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet: CANOODLING TO WIN (small bet). RACE 2 ALDEEAARY should be peaking today third run back from a break & looks the runner to beat. Although held up I doubt would have beaten NEW JOY here last start however this time around with a pull in the weights & a step up in distance certainly can. Stablemate CEREMONIOUS should also appreciate the step up in distance & is racing in good form. AIDEN is always thereabouts & NEW JOY can figure should she handle the additional 200m. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet: ALDEENAARY TO WIN (small bet). RACE 3 Very keen on the chances of METALART who goes into the race third-up & with his hoof planted firmly on the till. Solid fresh he was terrific second up when caught wide in no man’s land which saw him taken back to last, wide again cornering he then dashed home into 3rd spot, without any doubt he was beaten by the barrier. TORABELLA was also caught wide first up, completely forgive that run & go on what she did at her initial prep, she can bounce back hard today. END ASSEMBLY was good last start, not sure I’m wrapped in 1350m though? BRENTWOOD an improver. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 11 – 2 Suggested Bet: METALART TO WIN. RACE 4 Don’t foresee a great deal of speed in this race, Andersen will likely take it up now that he gains a start. EXCEED SPEED looks the one who will be in the right place at the right time likely parked right behind Andersen, good fresh he’s fitter this time around & Maloney sticks. RING ME UP will get out over further however is a place chance whilst fresh. Numbers: 6 – 19 – 15 – 18 Suggested Bet: EXCEED SPEED TO WIN. RACE 5 Keen on the chances of EL PENSADOR who likely found the front a shade too early when looking the winner here a couple of weeks back. He’s got a sharp dash when let rip however it’s not the longest of sprints & from gate 1 today he’ll likely get a nice smother & with luck gaining clear running in the straight can pounce! The consistent KADALL won’t be far away once again whilst QUOTHQUAN who was very good against the tempo last start will have to cope with 1615m which could be a stretch? Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet: EL PENSADOR TO WIN. RACE 6 ACRES AWAY was beaten just over a length by TALTARNI FIELDS here last start however the margin of just over a length should have been less. The former was held up for clear running until 100m from the line whereas TALTARNI FIELDS was able to get rolling under his own steam a lot earlier. Big chance to see the tables turned. I’m a big wrap for BUSTING however the gate is a concern, where will he end up? He certainly looked to have plenty to offer in a recent trial. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet: ACRES AWAY EACH-WAY. RACE 7 The Listed Keith Noud is the day’s feature & I’m with the very consistent BUBBA’S BAY who settles on pace in what looks a race which will only be run leisurely. She rarely runs a bad race & I’d suggest will camp on the leader TIGER SHARK & get his measure half-way down the straight. MIDNIGHT IN TOKYO is very effective fresh, definite chance. AT WITZ END has just gone off the boil a little of late, can bounce back without surprising, keep safe. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet: BUBBA’S BAY TO WIN. RACE 8 Found this race extremely tough. KRONENBOURG & LIVING FREE are coming off last start wins where both were well suited by the tempo of the race, problem is their opposition are very hit or miss, on their day they can measure right up however will today be that day? I’ll lean to KROENBOURG as he should be further improved third run back. IT’SMEMARIO & BETCHA THE CROWN in the mix. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 9 The lightly raced GIVE ME SPACE couldn’t have been any more impressive breaking his duck at only start number two when resuming here recently. Once reaching the lead he really knuckled down over the latter stages to race away & score most impressively. Suggest he can quickly transition to Saturday grade based on that. I’ll be saving on ESTRONDO who looked very unlucky here two back, don’t think he handled Eagle Farm the latest, look for him to bounce back hard. SUPER ALLOY fitter, SHEDRIVESABENTLEY not hopeless at big odds. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 1 – 13 Suggested Bet: GIVE ME SPACE TO WIN/SAVER ESTRONDO. RACE 10 Super keen on HELL in this final race. He is a speed machine who couldn’t have been any more impressive when winning at Eagle Farm last start running his rivals into the ground clocking some super slick sectionals along the way. He’ll cross from the wide gate & that will be the last they see of him! Respect for IN EVIDENCE, MAJESTIC BOOM, WEIGALL TIGER & THE INFLICTOR who can all figure in the fight to finish behind HELL. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 8 – 12 Suggested Bet: HELL TO WIN. Market Market
