Chris Nelson’s Eagle Farm Best Bets

RACE 1 No.1 Glorious Ruby

Super consistent filly who makes her 3yo debut tomorrow. Her 2yo season consisted of only 4 starts for 2 wins and as many placings with the latest behind the unbeaten Sweet Dolly who went on to win the rich 2yo Jewel on the Gold Coast. She was terrific that day after sitting 4 wide without cover battling on very gamely right to the line. Loved her recent trial win at Doomben coming clear to the line scoring in quick time.

RACE 8 No.4 Royal Hale

Tony Gollan trained galloper who on face value may have appeared a little disappointing first up here a fortnight back. Digging deeper into the run suggests he didn’t have much in his favour drawing wide and settling back in a race not run to suit. Tomorrow he drops plenty in weight and can position closer from the favourable draw. Looks the one to beat.

RACE 9 No.11 Toujours L’amour

Trainer Barry Baldwin is having a great run at the moment and this 7yo mare is certainly part of that success having won and placed at her past couple of outings. The latest was in Saturday company behind Really Discreet and whilst she couldn’t match her sprint to the line she still held down a solid second. With Jaden Lloyd’s claim will carry only 52kg which suggests she’s very well placed.
