Greg’s Belmont Best Posted on August 12, 2016August 15, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 CHOCOLATE HOLIC is galloper on the rise. He took care of a similar field last week and should be posting third win in just his fourth career start. ALL TOO MUCH is racing in career best form without actually getting a win. He will settle on the speed and run a place. ROYAL SUPREME ran well at his most recent start over this trip. PHANTOM CHOICE looks the leader. Numbers – 1 – 5 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – Chocolate Holic win RACE 2 Good quality three-year-old race. ONE SHORT was probably in need of the run first-up and he gives the impression the rise to 1200m will suit. THE CELT is a tough sprinter having his third run inside a fortnight. If he can cross from his wide alley he can win. SPANGLED IMPACT can improve on a flat first-up display. TAKEN HIGH beat very little last start but he should lead again and give a sight. Numbers – 1 – 3 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – One Short and The Celt RACE 3 CONSEATED and FURIOUS DAME stage an epic two horse war at their last clash with the former getting it done late in the piece. This race maps the same and they look the two again on paper. ILLUSION OF LIGHT is a serial placegetter. LE PATRON gets a soft run from gate 3 and has claims. Numbers – 2 – 3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – Conseated save Furious Dame RACE 4 Intriguing race with some high class mares resuming from long lay-offs. Going wide and selecting KING OF THE PALACE. He was in career best form last preparation. Although this is short of pet distance he has shown previously he can sprint well fresh and with a question mark over a couple of the favourites he’s worth a speck at odds. CHANTSKI was a quality two and three-year-old. She hasn’t trialled but if she produces anything near her best she probably wins. HOT GOODS can lead and give a sight. SHE’S A VIRTUE returns from a long lay-off and she’s been tuned up with two trials. Numbers – 2 – 5 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – King Of The Palace win RACE 5 Justin Warwick saddles up two of the key players in this staying race. I’m going for READY TO FIRE who on paper does appear the second stringer. In her favour is that she is rock hard fit and drops 3.5kg on her run last week. DON’TGETCAUGHT is very close to winning another race. Pike goes on. MATERIAL MAN is the class runner. He jumps to a staying trip for the first time which is the query. VERDELLO BLUE leads and gives a sight. Numbers – 8 – 3 -5 – 2 Suggested Bet – Ready To Fire each-way RACE 6 FIRST AMONG EQUALS looks very hard to beat in this year’s Belmont Newmarket. He was too good first-up in the Bolton Sprint when sitting wide throughout. He should get a softer run from a better draw and win again. ROCK MAGIC looks the clear second pick again. MALIBU STYLE was very disappointing in the Bolton. He’s can improve sharply. TRAVINATOR next best. Numbers – 2 – 1 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – First Among Equals win RACE 7 BARAKI BEATS looks the leader and from there he will go very close to breaking through for an overdue win. HELM’S GATE has hit form and Smith goes on. BLACKWOOD was fair first-up and beat most of these on class alone. FALCON CREST was a strong first-up winner for his new stable. Numbers – 1 – 4 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – Baraki Beat and Helm’s Gate RACE 8 Very competitive finish. YOU’RE A RUMIN was a big first-up winner and the bumped into the smart State Solicitor. This looks a nice race for him and he should get a lovely run from a good draw. MAX ALMIGHTY is in terrific form and if he can be within striking distance he’ll take some holding out. PATRIMONIO will get back and be steaming home. TRANQUILLA SUNRISE can lead and give some cheek. Numbers – 8 – 1 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – You’re A Rumin save Max Almighty QUADDIE RACE 5 – 2, 3, 5, 8 RACE 6 – 2 RACE 7 – 1, 2, 4, 7, 8 RACE 8 – 1, 5, 6, 8 Bet Now
