David Shortte’s Saturday Cannington Preview

Meeting Overview

This is one of the best meetings on the WA Greyhound Racing Calendar with four heats of the Sires On Ice Young Stars Classic over the 520 metres with the best of the up and coming chasers in WA strutting their stuff and an elite middle distance lineup for the Greyhounds WA Show Cup Final over 601 metres.

Best Bets

Race 9 No.8 RIPPIN RUBY

Classy bitch who returned fresh last week and I love the way she smashed the line late to run third in 29.83 seconds. She was beaten home by less than a length by Great Chat who is the clear leader and danger in this race. In fairness I didn’t have much between Ruby and Great Chat but Ruby is a better price and should get a nice run over with Great Chat pinging and working over to the fence. If Ruby sits handy she will be charging home over the concluding stages. They look likely to Quinella the race and I was impressed by the win of Zambora Bliss at Mandurah last week – include him in your Trifectas and First Fours.

Race 12 No.4 INCREDIBLE ROGUE

Prolific winner who has been hooning around the Northam circuit in their top grade events in grand style over recent times. Has two wins and 3 seconds from his last 5 runs and they have all been excellent performances. Returns to the Cannington 520 metre trip where he has won 4 of his 9 attempts and box 4 is actually his most winning box – he has had this draw 12 times for 5 wins and 4 placings. With a safe getaway he should take a power of stopping.

MULTI

Race 3 No.5 SUNSET CALIGULA win in to Race 6 No.8 GIDEON MONELLI win

Two of the most talented chasers in the business and with them dropping back to age restricted company they really do look awfully hard to topple. The Fixed odds Multi price around $2.71 will get me for a nice play.
