Scott Embry’s Sunday Carnarvon Preview Posted on July 18, 2025July 18, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SANSANEE looks very hard to beat in the opener. There are a lot of 1400 – 1600m types in this 1000m maiden and considering how well all of Brett Pope’s went at the last meeting it’s hard to ignore her quality grass form even though this is obvious on dirt. Has the speed to get across from a middle draw and that should ensure she stay out of the kickback. TAKE YOUR CHANCES won back to back 400m jump outs as a 2 year old. If she can lead that makes her the danger. HARRY THE PRINCE tried hard at Roebourne. IMPENDING FEATURE improves for the experience. Numbers: 5 – 10 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – SANSANEE WIN RACE 2 CITY MISTRESS gives 110% and with a few queries on main rivals (including first runs on dirt) going to side up with her to break through for a deserved win. Solid behind Incandescent Lady last start beating home Rakiura in the process and hoping she can hold a position out deep and march into it. REQUISITION like Sansanee in the opener hasn’t raced for 6 weeks in what looks deliberate placement and planning by Brett Pope to bring him to this race on this program. The old boy has another win in him. WISE WORDS was below her best last start. SPEEDY NOVA might be the second Pope elect given that Tash Faithfull is on Requisition. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – CITY MISTRESS WIN RACE 3 KING MAHUTA toyed with moderate opposition last start and while he won soft by 2.5L do think he’ll need to improve again here because this race has far more depth to it. Should only improve for the dirt experience so thinking he can go back to back. SHABALALA lumped 62kg last start and was still coming late. ODIN OMEN heads to Carnarvon and if he reproduced his run from the C3 at Northam over 1600m behind Snipperando he would be going close. Only 52kg after the claim for Natika Riordan and drawn to stay off the fence which helps. WHO’S YOUR MAMA was back to her best last start and destroyed them. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – KING MAHUTA WIN RACE 4 WESTERN IMPACT has finally found his feet on the dirt. Came into this season having only run minor placings and has now won two of his last three and the day he was beaten in between he did a lot of work through the middle stages. Flying. LACEVINSKY hasn’t put a foot wrong so far in the region and out to 1400m is his opportunity to finally lead against the fence if he can hold out Monty Zoomer. IMPERIALIZE loomed but couldn’t go on with it 9 days ago. Not convinced barrier 1 helps him at all either. MONTY ZOOMER can get the wobbles late. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – WESTERN IMPACT WIN RACE 5 DIRTY CHAI is just a different horse in the care of Jackie Scott. Since landing at the new yard she’s 4 from 4 undefeated and last time out in a 0MWLY on the Grass at Bunbury she was winning from the 1000m marker. She’s jumping, she’s running and she’s showing no signs of stopping. Hard to tip against? BIG CITIES comes out of a 56+ but thrived on the dirt and put an extending near 4L margin on rivals late. OREGON HIKER won by nearly a length from the breeze in a very encouraging dirt debut. Tash Faithfull on Big Cities though – that’s the lead. SIMPLE LOGIC should be a nice dirt conveyance. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – DIRTY CHAI WIN RACE 6 EIN STEIN has been in really good form all preparation and wasn’t suited dropping back to 1000m mid-prep last time out. This step to 1400m looks very much in his favour and think Jefferson Tsang will get him into a really nice spot over the top of the speed. Most suitable race of the prep. MILITARY JANE resumed on the Fibre Sand at Bunbury and loomed large before blowing out late. Improves fitness wise sharply second-up and is a big threat. DREAM ILLUSION was strongly supported in betting last start but never looked a winning chance at any stage. ROSA BALLERINA is going along better than it looks. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 11 Suggested Bet – EIN STEIN WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) FD 1,3 1 1,2,4 Market Market
