Lavra Joe Trainer: Ray Jones Driver: Chris Lewis Exciting 5YO who won the 4YO Championship and then didn’t have any luck in the other two Classics for his age group. He trialled nicely at Pinjarra recently and he is a very good front runner who should give a great sight from the pole draw. 2. Diego Trainer: Gary Hall Snr Driver: Maddison Brown Has burst into Cups contention with impressive wins in three of his last four starts. He has led throughout on those occasions but he is a versatile type capable of unwinding a big finish and looks a major player from this draw. 3. Mighty Ronaldo Trainer: Justin Prentice Driver: Emily Suvaljko Has been disappointing this time in but he looked backed to his best with a fast-finishing 3rd to Diego here last week. He needs a soft run in transit but will be charging home if he gets the right trip. 4. Patronus Star Trainer: Greg & Skye Bond Driver: Deni Roberts Sit and sprint specialist who has finished just behind the placegetters at his last three starts. He is likely to be driven quietly here but has shown that he is capable of causing an upset if the race is run to suit. 5. Wildwest Trainer: Gary Hall Snr Driver: Deni Roberts Last year’s WA Pacing Cup winner who has been racing fairly but he would need to improve significantly on his last effort if he was to figure in the finish here. 6. Gambit Trainer: Gary Hall Snr Driver: Stuart McDonald Ultra-consistent pacer who has been placed in seven of his past eight starts in similar company and has shown that he can work in his races and still be in the finish. He will need some luck to upset his more fancied rivals but can’t be overlooked. 7. Himself Trainer: Greg & Skye Bond Driver: Dylan Egerton-Green Was an upset winner of the Golden Nugget in blistering time and then led throughout at his first start against open company. The rise in class and draw makes it tough and he will be one of the outsiders of the field. 8. Magnificent Storm Trainer: Ray Williams Driver: Aldo Cortopassi Is still widely considered to be the state’s best pacer but he definitely isn’t the dominant force that it was thought that he would develop into. He looks set for a tough run from his wide draw but is too good to overlook. 9. Jumpingjackmac Trainer: Gary Hall Snr Driver: Gary Hall Jnr Ran a solid 2nd in the Golden Nugget in sizzling time and has finished just behind the placegetters at his two subsequent starts. He has the ability to test the field but his horror draw means he is going to need all the breaks to figure in the finish. 10. Hampton Banner Trainer: Debra Lewis Driver: Jocelyn Young Was very disappointing here last week but ran a nice 4th at his previous start. He has come up with his perfect draw to be competitive and he should follow the favourite everywhere and looks a good place chance. 11. Vultan Tin Trainer: Daniel Costello Driver: Mitchell Miller Oldtimer whose best days are behind him and has finished 7th and 8th at his two runs back from a spell. He is drawn to get a soft trip on the pegs which will suit him at this stage of his career and a top four finish isn’t beyond him. 12. Minstrel Trainer: Greg & Skye Bond Driver: Ryan Warwick Hasn’t won for almost a year but his last two efforts indicate that he is getting back to his best. He was beaten in a photo finish after doing all of the work at his last start and can make his presence felt but the draw makes it tough. 13. Prince Of Pleasure (1st Emg) Trainer: Gary Hall Snr Driver: Gary Hall Jnr Up and comer who is definitely up to this class if he gains a start. He had no luck last week but his previous efforts indicate he would be a live winning chance if he comes into a favourable draw. 14. Vampiro (2nd Emg) Trainer: Greg & Skye Bond Driver: Colin Brown Experienced campaigner who led and knocked up late to finish 7th at his first start in almost a year. It is hard to see him improving enough to test this field but he has brilliant gate speed and that will need to be taken into account if he does gain a start. SELECTION: LAVRA JOE The barrier advantage over his main rivals will ensure that he will start as the favourite. He should have enough speed to hold up at the start and should be able to run sectionals that will make it very difficult for his rivals. Market Market
