Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on June 29, 2022June 29, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 HEAPS OF MOOLAH might be able to get away with it here in this lowly 5 horse C1 2200m event to open the program. Thought his effort in a 60+ Graduation two starts ago behind Acting God, Aragain and Mojo Rhythm was really good. Ultimately beaten 4.4L but was miles outside the handicap and gave real cheek out in front. That was also when backing up off 5 days so thinking straight to the top here and kept out of trouble, he might just pinch it. MISS VOODOO was good first-up and woeful second-up. Always forgiving with staying types. ROYAL CHOISIR has run some massive races over the years. Amazing to think she’s only won once. ABBOU is racing like 2200 (or 4200) will suit. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – HEAPS OF MOOLAH WIN RACE 2 THE PANZER went around 50-1 first-up when finishing third behind Awesome Rival and subsequent maiden and 58+ winner She’s Puzzling. Thought he was going to just do enough second up to get over the top of Secret Lair late but unfortunately, he just missed. Looks hard to hold out. LUKE’S PIERRO has always shown glimpses of ability. Third-up should be peaking and Harvey sticks. SOCIAL IMPACT is going to be impossible to follow. There’s something there but you’ll go broke trying to catch her. FRIES WITH THAT is one paced but will keep coming. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – THE PANZER WIN RACE 3 MARCHAMLEY looks to have found a really weak maiden. Last start was stiff not to score in a three way photo with Master Safari and Look Up. Considering that was the same day that The Panzer got beat in a photo it’s only fair that 14 days later they both look really hard to beat. Versatile type and if he can kick through to lead again (no other real pace) he’ll be hard to run down. DELTA ANNE lacks a killer blow but she travels well enough in the run to suggest she’ll be there abouts. STEAK NIGHT was a long way behind Marchamley last start but worth noting that Brad Parnham sticks. MELWOOD COAST has had his chance. Numbers 2 – 6 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – MARCHAMLEY WIN RACE 4 RUSTIC ROSE comes from a small stable and went around big quotes in his initial preparation. Thinking he might come up as value in this off the back of a nice trial win at Larl Hill a month ago. The debut run was sound and then things didn’t go right for him. Throw at the stumps. FRANTIC WAR is excellent placement. Double nominated for Wednesday 2 year old midweeker or an All-Age 1000 at Northam. Goes to the All Age maiden and carries less weight in a race with less depth. Ran well first-up. STAR SOPRANO is drawn 11 of 11 but arguably comes through the best form races (Oly’s Choice, On The Full, Keep Attacking). SAMBAZA likely comes out running to try and find the front. Numbers: 9 – 11 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – RUSTIC ROSE EACHWAY RACE 5 EEE PEE CEE is double accepted for Wednesday and Thursday. If they scratch from Wednesday and go to Thursday then I’ll be following up on him after he got no room to move and wind up on debut. LOOK UP the stablemate is also accepted here with Clint Johnston-Porter booked to ride. He hit the line well through traffic on debut and then looked green and wayward at start two when rolling around under pressure. AIDAN’S CHOICE ran really well on debut and can kick through to lead from the inside gate. LE GRAND JEU was consistent in his initial preparation and looked good in his trial. Numbers: (7) – 3 – 2 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – EEE PEE CEE WIN RACE 6 SNIP OF GLORY ran a ripper fresh in an eye catching last 600. Certainly not a filly that has got a lot of love in this preview so far in her career but thought the fresh run was almost career best for her. She’s hard to follow because she can get back but this is probably as weak a maiden as she has seen. Gets her chance. WINGS AWAY didn’t fire fresh. Worth forgiving and following up. Runs when last in work were easily good enough to win this. LITTLE SCHNITTY ran well at her Lindsey Smith debut. Toughed it out well. HART TRADER should have won a maiden by now. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – SNIP OF GLORY WIN RACE 7 ROCK OF KAHA is going really well for Jon Jachmann. The Albany season has been finished for a fair while now but he continues to race well. Deep into the campaign (13th run) but shows no signs of training off. He’ll roll forward from a wide gate and give his usual kick on straightening. Always an eachway chance. NICK OF TIME ran well fresh and we’ll get a sighter into the strength of that form on Wednesday through Ensign Pulver. RIDING HOOD FAME is going super and does her best work at Northam. PRINCE OF GUELPH should improve sharply second-up and with a senior rider back aboard. Numbers: 5 – 9 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – ROCK OF KAHA EACHWAY RACE 8 AIRLIE QUEEN has come back to racing well. Trialled super under Patrick Carbery and got the job done first-up at Belmont in a C3 1200m. Stepped into C5 company last start and up to 1300m in the Northam Traders (a race which has produced Blazing Tycoon and Flicka’s Chance) and now back to 1100m, back to C3 company and drawn a gate she looks hard to beat. GREAT HEIST is only having his third start for Frank Vanmaris but both runs have been full of merit. Should be a nice little money spinner. ASTRO WARRIOR finds a new home. If he produced his best, he’d be hard to beat in this. GREEN AND SHADY gets back and can mix his form. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – AIRLIE QUEEN WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3,4,7 5,6,7,8 1,2,4,5,7,9 1,2,3 Market Market
