Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on August 13, 2021August 13, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BIG BREAK could well extend the William Pike Kalgoorlie run that started last Sunday with 3 winners in the first three races on the card. Has been knocking on the door of late and now that Peter Fernie has him ready to win the Wizard steps in to seal the deal. Drawn to lead or box seat and should be going very close. ILZAAM has promised to win a race for the entire season and this is definitely winnable for her. HEAR ME didn’t get any luck last start when copping significant interference at various stages of the race. Further they go the better he’ll get. A TOUCHY SUBJECT was a big improver last start for his group of loyal owners including Tatts Club fan favourite Tin of Cream. Repeats the run with even luck and could play a part. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – BIG BREAK WIN RACE 2 MR GENOA looks suited in the small field in a race which should have a genuine speed on throughout. You would think that Mitch Pateman had the choice of riding for MR Peter or DMac and has sided with the strength of Fernie and Mr Genoa. Run three starts ago behind subsequent Kambalda Cup winner Fingermark was excellent. Always a winning chance in these races. NO SURRENDER showed last start that his ability is still there. Clearly a horse who has mixed his form this preparation and seems to go lengths better for Pateman than anyone. ABSOLUTE will track up in behind them and has a short sharp burst of speed. TURBO POWER without any weight can sit outside No Surrender and run a big race. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – MR GENOA WIN RACE 3 YOYO’S had seven starts for Justin Warwick and now finds herself in the care of Luke Fernie after a dispersal sale in Winter. Has shown glimpses of ability at trials and in race starts and while she couldn’t get the job done at Albany or York last preparation the new environment and new home could see her improve. Just needs an ounce of luck from the draw. AUNTY JEAN makes her debut as a 4 year old mare and her two recent trials at Kalgoorlie (both behind Deel Red) have been encouraging. HOOTIE DA BLOWFISH will be looking to find the front for Chris Graham. If finding the fence will take running down. MOGUL MAGIC clearly has issues but did show ability early doors. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – YOYO’S WIN RACE 4 PINK AND PURPLE landed the money in style last start and strikes an almost identical field, this time at 1760m which should only be more to her liking. Dominated them last start, luckless in defeat the start before. Peter Fernie has her flying, William Pike rode her perfectly last start and we’ll be going again. Looks a mare on the rise and a smokey for the lesser Cups races. MAJOR MAMBO didn’t find the front last start in a surprise and still ran a handy race. CUBAN TWIST hasn’t quite been the same mare that won plenty of races last season. Still capable of improvement. MAGIC WILL REIGN got the better of many of these two starts ago. Loved the 1760 last year. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – PINK AND PURPLE WIN RACE 5 GALAHS DO ROAR ran straight past One For The Road in a C2 to score two starts ago at 1760m and then most recently dropped back to 1600, raced wide throughout and then loomed the winner at the top of the straight. Couldn’t get past the 100-1 pop There’s A Chance who just kept kicking and they meet again here. Drawn a gate to stalk the speed and Ryan Hill is very good at timing his runs in these middle distance races. Thinking she can turn the tables. THERE’S A CHANCE gave Nick Carapellotti (nee. Abrey) his/her/insert chosen pronoun first winner as a trainer and from the buoyant post race interview there’s an expectation of further improvement as the distances increase. Pateman jumps on and we’ll see if he can reproduce. IMORTALITE has put in a couple of eye catchers now this campaign. Clearly going well with the weight off. TRIGGERFISH should track up in behind them and can surprise at odds. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 10 – 5 Suggested Bet – GALAHS DO ROAR WIN RACE 6 SHAPE SHIFTER ran fourth at her first start in Kalgoorlie behind Star Present, Our Pandemonium and Wunderkind. That looks a strong enough C2 form reference to suggest that with Brad Rawiller going aboard and drawn an idea alley that she’ll be highly competitive at her second start for Rod Brown. Freddo has shown a knack of improving these tried types (Iron Sharp, Mexi Cola) so see no reason why he can’t do the same here. BORN SPICY gets in with no weight after the claim for Taj Dyson. Thrown some handy rides by Fernie and looks a talented young hoop. BRIGHT GLOW is becoming frustrating to follow. Continues to run all the best closing sections without winning. BREKKY WITH A BANG filled the pockets of loyal replay watchers last start. Come back to racing well. Numbers: 5 – 13 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – SHAPE SHIFTER WIN RACE 7 BLACK COMET was a barnstorming winner first-up no trial at 1300m in a 58+ at Kalgoorlie. Last start when to town into a 58+ Westspeed Platinum race and struck a soft track. Didn’t look comfortable at any stage and finished midfield beaten 4L. Mr Mt Walker has run well since, Ohbeeh has run well since, Megadon has won since and now Black Comet returns to Kalgoorlie. With even luck looks hard to hold out late. MEXI COLA was some win last start at 1200. Reproduces and they’re probably running for second. DALSWINTON has been building towards another win and with the Dyson claim gets in with no weight. GLUTEN FREE looked home last start until Bentley’s Brother nabbed him. Gets every chance from the draw. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – BLACK COMET WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 5 1,3,4,5,6,10 1,2,4,5,13 1,2,6,8 Market Market
