Michael McDermott’s Weekend Greyhound Preview

Mandurah Friday, 13th August 2021

Race 2 – No. 1  Burning Passion

Has the draw  advantage over his main rivals. Will also relish the extra 90m this week and if he can recapture his early career pace, they won’t get near him tonight.

Race 11 – No. 8  Monalee Monelli

Yet to miss the podium in his 7 starts to date. Having his first run in pink but has handled the two boxes directly to his inside with ease in the past and should get a good cart across by Canya Moonshine (7). Will prove hard to hold out at the business end.

Race 12 – No. 8  Light The Way

Hasn’t won for a while but she will find this easier than the majority of runs since that last victory. She showed a glimpse of nearing her best last week when runner up to the highly talented Unsee This and she is more than capable of going one better this time.

Each Way:

Race 6 – No. 5  Up And About

Resumes from a spell and makes his 405m debut tonight. He will be relying on luck over shorter than he is used to and may get left behind early but he is capable of being placed at odds if his more fancied rivals happen to find trouble in running when he’ll be just about to wind up.

Quaddie (Race 5 to 8):

3.7 / 3.4.5.6 / 1.2.8 / 1.2.3.5.7 $50 for 41.66%

Race 2 – No. 7  Buller Monelli

His lone win was from this very draw when racing prominently throughout and scoring in a solid 30.06 back in late June. His recent times have been handy enough in placings at 3 of his past 4 against stiffer opposition and can be rewarded for consistency with a similar effort in this line up.

Race 4 – No. 6  Poppa Mono

No luck in both runs from this draw when finishing 3rd in each earlier in his career. He has been mixing form in his past couple over 490m at Mandurah but will appreciate the return to headquarters and should be able to find his winning best again.

Race 10 – No. 7  Razor’s Edge

His form has slipped in recent weeks but he has had a reason, taking on stronger opposition than this. He will find this line up more to his liking though and looks set to bounce back into winning form here.

Each Way:

Race 5 – No. 8  Owl Sky

Had more than a couple of excuses last week but was still only beaten less than a length, finishing on the heels  of placegetters. She doesn’t mind a wide draw and is worth giving another chance at causing the upset at decent odds.

Quaddie (Race 5 to 8):

2.3.4.5.8 / 1.2.3.7 / 4.5.7 / 1.2.3 $50 for 27.77%

Trifecta – Race 2

1.2.5.7 /1.2.5.7 / 1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8 $30 for 41.66%

First Four – Race 4

6 / 2 / 1.3.4.5.7.8 / 1.3.4.5.7.8 $50 for 166.66%

Race 10 – No. 3  Escapology

In search of a hat trick with back to back all the way wins over the shorter 275m in Novice company. Possesses an all the way win over this trip as well from a similar draw and will take catching if pinging to the top again.

Race 11 – No. 8  Chaos Ball

Unplaced but with excuses in her short course debut over the 302m at Mandurah last week. Prior to that she was an all the way winner both over the 405m and here over 380m in solid times and is should bounce back with a similar escape from the boxes.

Race 12 – No. 7  Just Terminal

Handy chaser resuming from a spell. He is a multiple winner first up in the past and has only missed the top prize once in 4 starts over this trip. Should go well fresh again.
