Scott Embry’s Saturday Broome Preview Posted on August 13, 2021August 13, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 WILD STAR backs up like a lot of horses on the program off 4 days from Tuesday’s Broome meeting when contesting a C1 and finishing only 3.5L off All Metal, Liquidity and Do Your Best (all winners). Drops back into a more suitable maiden, drawn a handy gate and looks capable of finally breaking through and giving Maddy Cornick a second Broome winner. JONO has been a frustrating horse to follow throughout his entire career. Will need all the strength of Peter Hall to wind him up from the 1000 because he’s always slow into stride early. MIAMI MOON was spat out the back last start. If she can jump and get across it’s a different scenario for her. MORGAN LE FAYE is hit and miss out of the machine. If jumping is a live hope. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – WILD STAR WIN RACE 2 YOURTHEONEFORME went around with a postage stamp weight last start under Jett Stanley (51kg) and lead running. Holding off the repeated challenge of Crash Hat Lady who had the big 60kg on her back. Crash Hat Lady looked a Tuesday special and won by panels of fencing to make the form look good. Jett Stanley is expected to ride him in an identical fashion here and takes running down. NOBLE SPIRIT gets the gun run and has been a model of consistency since joining the Darryn Pateman yard. Only getting better late in the preparation. LIQUIDITY ran well on Tuesday and stepping out in trip looks suitable for him. STUMBLE has a senior rider on. Hasn’t reproduced the electric win of four starts ago but clearly has it in him. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – YOURTHEONEFORME WIN RACE 3 WIENER WALTZ looked a great eachway punt in the Broome Sprint on Tuesday and went around $13 fixed when sadly missing a hole and running a game fourth. Mollie Clark rode him a treat and when he got the split he gave us a glimpse of hope and was only beaten 1L into fourth. Backs up off 4 days, draws another perfect alley and should again run a big race. Won’t be eachway this time I can’t imagine but we’ll follow up. MOLTEN drew a lemon in the Sprint and never looked the winner in running. Far different ball game here drawn gate 1. Expecting a big improvement. SHACKLETON brings the alternate form through the Roebourne and Port Hedland sprints. Will need to lift here but is flying. CLASSY LASSY is seriously quick. Expecting the sparks to fly early. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – WIENER WALTZ WIN RACE 4 WEONA BRUTE was a shock winner last start after failing to beat a runner home first-up and looking all at sea on the dirt. When horses find the front at Broome they grow a leg and he was the perfect example because he lead running and never looked like being run down. With Cheval De Vaga winning impressively on Tuesday the form is good and see no reason why he can’t win again. ENTERPRISE was only a last start Roebourne winner but has been super consistent since striking the dirt surfaces of Carnarvon, Roebourne and Port Hedland. THE WISE ONE couldn’t lead on Tuesday and then was gone at the 600. Should cross them here. PRINCE SAIYAN finds a race with a stack of speed and could be last man standing. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – WEONA BRUTE WIN RACE 5 DIAMOND TONIQUE is a previous Broome Cup winner who won Tuesday’s Broome Sprint as a 9 year old. Absolute marvel of a horse, huge training effort by John Gangemi to change tactics when things didn’t go right mid-prep and now on the 4 day back-up strikes another winnable race at a mile. The way he’s travelling and the way he’s letting down he can defy the big weight impost. Great use of Jett Stanley’s 3kg claim and provided he stays out of trouble and traffic he’ll be coming home hard late. BIG BLOWS abandoned the Cups campaign after he simply wasn’t finishing off over further. Back in trip might be what he needs. WATCH ME NEY NEY was a huge winner last start. 10/10 Austin Galati. Will need another big ride from the apprentice given his race pattern and barrier. NEVARDA loomed the winner on Tuesday before being run down by Stevie’s Wonder. Hard to knock. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – DIAMOND TONIQUE WIN RACE 6 SLICK UNIT is Emergency #1 so is certainly not guaranteed to gain a start, however, if he does then he’ll carry 58.5kg after Angela Johnston’s claim and should find the breeze and take serious running down. Love Broome front runners off the quick back-up and he fits that profile perfectly. IF he doesn’t gain a start then KING OF PLANETS becomes the on top selection as yet another tough, on speed type who is thriving on the claim of Rosie Mahony. Will need to wait for 8am Saturday morning to see scratchings. MOET DE VEGA finished fourth behind Desert Thorn, Diamond Tonique and Wiener Waltz in a 70+ last start. No reason why he can’t box seat behind the speedsters and win. CARLINGFORD will need to be good from the gate but his Darwin form is stronger than most of these. Numbers: (14) – 3 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – SLICK UNIT WIN RACE 7 STAADEN ran second in the Derby Cup to Majora’s Mask when sitting on top of the speed and just failing to hold on and then Shaun McGruddy jumped on the plane to Port Hedland and took luck out of the equation. Straight to the top and dominated the Cup when leading throughout and running them ragged. Normally you’d query the quality of the Port Hedland Cup as a form reference but with a number of the fancies mixing their form or drawing wide he gets the nod. Sneaks in on the minimum and looks like Rob Gulberti has timed his run perfectly with the progressive stayer. DECEPTION GAME didn’t fire in the Kimberley Cup but if you watch the replay he was in the worst possible position over the first 800m of that race. Willing to forgive and keep the fairytale finish as a possibility for P.Hall #CupsKing. TUGGA WAR brings the Darwin ratings form and it all stacks up well if you rate them on pure times. ULUSABA finally showed something on the dirt and hits form at the right time. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 12 – 13 Suggested Bet – STAADEN WIN RACE 8 BURNING MAGIC stepped out to 1800m last start and was a fighting effort when second behind Bulletson in a driving finish. Bulletson had finished off impressively in the Cable Beach Caravan Park Cup and then dropped into a 58+ so the form out of the race should be strong and with Jett Stanley taking 3kg off and Steele Casey dropping her back into a 50+ she looks hard to beat. Provided she jumps she’ll be in a prominent position throughout and looks capable of seeing out the trip off her last start effort. OMBUDSMAN is proven at the trip and finally broke a long run of outs last start. Darryn Pateman has him going well and this is a great race for him. MOMENTUM AMETHYST brings 0 – 66 ratings form from Darwin at the staying trips. Must be respected. MACAVITY ran second in the Roebourne Cup two starts ago. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – BURNING MAGIC WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,3,4,6 3,4,5,7,(14) 3,5,10,11,12,13 1,2,3,6 Market Market
