Deane Lester’s Flemington Best Bets Posted on February 26, 2021February 26, 2021 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 4 NO.12 LEGIONNAIRE LEGIONNAIRE is a capable galloper on his day that looks a value each way chance when he runs in the Benchmark 90 Handicap (1200m). The four year old ran two very good races at the start of his last campaign which included a placing behind the speedy ANCESTRY over 1200 metres at Caulfield on September 19. He has had two jumpouts in preparation for his return to racing and appears to be going as well as ever. He is attractively weighted on the minimum in this race and then gets the added bonus of Group one winning apprentice Teodore Nugent’s 1.5kg claim. He is a Flemington winner that is well up to this grade and looks over the odds. RACE 5 NO.10 MUNTASEERA The ATA/ Bob Hoysted Handicap (1000m) sets up nicely for a fresh horse on the scene and talented filly MUNTASEERA appeals as the right horse for this race. The daughter of I Am Invincible resumes from a spell after an impressive 800m trial at Cranbourne on February 8. The Ciaron Maher/ David Eustace trained galloper was a first-up winner over 1000 metres at Caulfield last September before a solid 2nd behind SWATS THAT in the Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on October 10. She finished her last campaign with a brave 5th behind SEPTEMBER RUN in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on October 31. Whilst FABERGINO appeals as the obvious danger, MUNTASEERA is poised to record her third career victory. RACE 6 NO.5 BEST OF DAYS The Blamey Stakes (1600m) looks a good race for the on pace runners and BEST OF DAYS is well poised to win again. The seven year old won the 2018 Cantala Stakes at this track and distance, and comes off a dominant all the way win in the Carlyon Cup (1600m) at Caulfield on February 6. He’s hard fit for this race, should be able to sit outside BUFFALO RIVER and grind away at that galloper over the final stages. It appeals as a good quinella, however BEST OF DAYS should run well again. Market Market
