Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on August 21, 2020August 21, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 GOODBYEFEDS is a 12 start maiden having his first appearance outside the metro and provincial area. Joins Helen Harding’s stable and from the draw Chris Graham can have him sitting in the first 4 in running. No real speed at all in this race and he should be going close. Was impressive first-up and then bitterly disappointing second-up. Has to carry 58kg and the weight of Krishane Warren’s best but regardless should be going close. I’M A BUSH CHOOK has her first start for a new yard. Blinkers on and the horse who beat her home at trials could be very special. EMERALD ROSE has had 32 opportunities but continues to hit the line. This is actually one of the most suitable races she has seen. ESCALATING is limited and could be for sale very soon. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – GOODBYEFEDS WIN RACE 2 GESSATO looks extremely well placed by Sean & Jake Casey. Had six starts last preparation and won three of them. First-up over 1100m was a big winner off the back of a hot trial performance. The trial behind Free Trade was soft and from the draw Peter Knuckey should be kicking through to lead or at worst sits leader’s back. Should be too slick. MANHATTAN MONEY has been a revelation since joining the Cambana Lodge team. She looks the testing material. CLOAK AND DAGGER is holding form well but again draws awkwardly. LITTLE HERCULES hit a purple patch of form a couple of months ago. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – GESSATO WIN RACE 3 MOORUMBINE hasn’t had the best of runs since joining MR Peter Fernie. Backing up off 7 days, King of Kal Mitchell Pateman returning from suspension and UDL poisoning to ride him, he should get a nice track into it three deep with cover. Provided the leaders are not skipping away on the corner he should give a sight on an eachway basis. SIRIUS MAGIC comes back into C2 company after racing in exclusively harder for the last few months. Last two have been poor but he is much better than that. DEVINE BEAST won a weak maiden last start but draws to get the run of the race. ROSEICAPILLA caught the eye last week. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet – MOORUMBINE EACHWAY RACE 4 SLUICE BOX has gone from strength to strength under the guidance of impressive young trainer Jayden (Justin) Thomas. The first-up effort against the pattern was huge behind Staralign and then won well over subsequent winner Magic Will Reign at his second run of the preparation. Last start he got beaten in the narrowest of photos to highly promising mare Cuban Twist. Drops back to a mile, gets in on the minimum and from the draw only needs an ounce of luck late to flash home and score. PARADISE SQUARE isn’t known as a miler but his effort last weekend was strong. That race rated through the roof and he’ll take beating. MAJOR MAMBO is racing a length below his best but this is a thin race. FAIR SONARI dominated at Kal last year but he’s going very average. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – SLUICE BOX WIN RACE 5 AMILLIONITE is fool proof when drawn close handy. She can hold a position from the draw and after Madi Derrick’s claim gets a 1.5kg weight relief off many of her opposition. Should be sitting almost leader’s back and there’s a fair amount of tempo in this. Should give backers a great eachway sight. BLACK COMET was climbing out of the ground late last start. Looks even better suited stepping out in trip. WEMBLEY DAYZ is going well enough but still can’t draw a gate or find a suitable map race. ANCIENT REMEDY was great last week and Kyra Yuill jumps back on. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – AMILLIONITE WIN RACE 6 STRATOCREED was 6 weeks between runs last start and completely luckless. Gets 1kg weight swing on Excaro and a barrier advantage. Nice ride for Victoria Cover and with even luck and not held up into the corner he should be going close to notching his first win for Joanne Forrest. WATTOS FURY has finished in the money at 10 of his 11 runs in Kalgoorlie this season. Impossible to fault and continues to go round at an eachway quote. He turns up more often than Brad Hubbin. FAIR JOY could give them all something to run down. EXCARO needs luck but she loves Kal. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 10 – 5 Suggested Bet – STRATOCREED WIN RACE 7 STARALIGN and ANOTHER DEMON ran second and third behind Fair Joy a fortnight ago. The market may focus in on Stevie’s Wonder coming up from Perth but fairly confident the local duo hold the advantage. STARALIGN has gone from strength to strength since arriving in Kalgoorlie and he was flying late behind Fair Joy. Back to 1400m and drawn to sit close handy he’ll take real beating. ANTOHER DEMON set a strong tempo last week over 1400m in the 70+ grade (overall race time 6L faster than average). That sets him up nicely here. STEVIE’S WONDER is a massive son of Pierro who has returned to racing well but is going to be costly to follow. FINGERMARK ran well last week and seems to have thrived with John Mason in his loyal round yard. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – STARLAIGN WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 7 1,4,5,6,7,9 2,3,4,5,7,10 1,5 Market Market
