Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on August 14, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MUDS TOO HARD was thrown in the deep end on debut in the Listed Supremacy Stakes before contesting the Perth Stakes at only his second outing. To finish within 2.5L of Starfield Impact and then 5.5L of Gemma’s So and Charleton Eddie were both easily good enough efforts to be winning a Kalgoorlie maiden. Trialled up nicely and you’d think that Brad Parnham is in town to ride Muds Too Hard and Sliced Bread. NAUGHTY THOUGHTIES is building towards a maiden victory and backs up off 7 days. SHE KNOWS BEST was taken down to Northam last start which is probably a sign that MR Peter has a bit of an opinion of her. DO YOUR BEST next best. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – MUDS TOO HARD WIN RACE 2 DAWN ENIGMA finally showed a glimpse last week. Went around as the outsider of the field but ran particularly well and now backs up off 7 days and this is another very winnable assignment for him. If he can just reproduce the effort then logic says he goes very close. ESCALATING is clearly limited. He will break through in a Kalgoorlie maiden but you’d think he won’t be winning anything more than that. Thoughts with connections who forked out $130k for him. AURAE should be able to hold a position from the gate and can improve. CAVALLER ran well at his first Kal outing. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – DAWN ENIGMA WIN RACE 3 VICTORY SHOT has her first start for the Cambana Lodge team. MR Peter Fernie has a real ability to turn around these tried commodities and Victory Shot has always looked to hold an ounce of ability. From the draw expecting her to sit in the box seat and this is a nice way to open her Goldfields account. Should be well supported based off her metro form. BUSY ONE has hit form like many of the Freddo Brown team. Hard to knock any of the recent efforts and with Craig Staples retaining the ride looks the testing material. KING’S AUTHORITY gets 64.5kg but after the claim looks to have fallen into a winnable race. Hard to catch but goes alright. MOORUMBINE next best but a tricky draw. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – VICTORY SHOT WIN RACE 4 GLUTEN FREE is yet to win this preparation but off 7 days and up to a mile looks to put him right into the mix. Only three starts ago ran second to Perth horse Star Value and then ran sixth but behind Cuban Twist who is in scintillating form and then last week when dropping back to 1300m was simply run off his feet by Fair Joy. Looks a nice race for him. ALL MAN is building and while he may be looking for further should get a soft run. PINK AND PURPLE does no work from the draw but in a similar vein to All Man might be looking for ground. RECAPITULATE put the writing on the wall first-up. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – GLUTEN FREE WIN RACE 5 FAIR JOY ran them into the ground last week. Overall race time almost 5L faster than average and one of the highest rating events of the season to date in this grade. Goes up 1.5kg but back to 1200 and if Keshaw Dhurun adopts similar tactics they’ll struggle to run him down. MANHATTAN MONEY has had 3 races under Peter Fernie and no reason why she can’t win a few more the way she is going. CLOAK AND DAGGER is flying but the draw sets ‘Cloaky’ a task. Will need to lift under the strength of the Bretts. MAGNIFORCE has X-Factor but needs to rebound off the first-up flop. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – FAIR JOY WIN RACE 6 SLICED BREAD looks wonderfully in this c70+. First-up last preparation was beaten under three quarters of a length behind Ice Trade in a C5 and then went into 66+ grade when third to Lorentinio and Luke’s Gold. Two starts later finished second to Moschard and beat home Festival Miss in the process. That’s super form for a race of this nature and with the draw Brad Parnham can have him midfield with cover ready to unleash. Keen. HAYAN LAD is hard to fault and should be able to work his way to the top. GLIMMER GIRL and UNBREAKABLE are both going well but might run into a couple of sharper ones here. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – SLICED BREAD WIN RACE 7 MAGIC WILL REIGN is a regular in the traditional, annual (weekly) blog. Was a good thing beaten three starts ago, was a good thing beaten two starts ago and then last week finally broke through for a deserved win. Backs up off 7 days, stays in the same C2 grade and from the draw can have them within his sights. Should be winning. OLD BAILEY was brilliant last week. The caramel cake and Hahn light will flow at Neverstop Lodge if he gets the cash. COCKY ED caught the eye at his most recent. DAVEEDO tries hard but lacks a turn of acceleration. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – MAGIC WILL REIGN WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,8,9,10 2,5,9 3 1 Market Market
