Deane Lester’s Flemington Best Bets Posted on April 24, 2020 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 1 NO.6 AIN’TNODEELDUN The Anzac Day Stakes (1400m) has always been a good race for progressive late season two year olds with recent winners including the group one performers LONG JOHN and MERCHANT NAVY. This year’s edition looks another good competitive race and the value runner is AIN’TNODEELDUN. The Anthony Freedman trained colt has finished 4th at both runs to date, both at Sandown over 1300 and 1400 metres. He didn’t appreciate an inside draw last time as he is a big actioned horse that needs galloping room. Elite rider Mark Zahra retains the mount and AIN’TNODEELDUN appeals at each way odds. RACE 4 NO.1 VOW AND DECLARE It’s a rare treat for punters to see last year’s Melbourne Cup winner racing at this time of year, however VOW AND DECLARE is lining up in the William Newton VC Handicap (2600m) and looks a likely winner. The four year old resumed with a brave third behind FIFTY STARS in the Australian Cup (2000m) at Flemington on March 7 before labouring on wet ground when unplaced behind ADDEYBB in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick on April 11. He will appreciate a massive class drop whilst stepping up in distance and looks attractively weighted under the quality handicap conditions. He is drawn for a sweet run and VOW AND DECLARE represents the best bet of the day. RACE 5 NO.4 RUSSIAN CAMELOT RUSSIAN CAMELOT is a much hyped horse from the Danny O’Brien stable that showed his talent with a brilliant last start win and can continue on his winning way when he runs in the Flt Lt Peter Armytage Handicap (1700m). The son of Camelot treated his rivals with contempt with an effortless victory over 1600 metres at Pakenham on April 9. This is the next step in his preparations for next month’s SA Derby (2500m) at Morphettville, a race that looks well within his grasp. Whilst he has an awkward draw to overcome, RUSSIAB CAMELOT is a star in the making that should win again. Market Market
