Scott Embry’s Sunday Geraldton Preview Posted on April 12, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 DAMASCUS STEEL is having start number 17 and is never far from the action. Has seen some weak maidens this campaign but this is soft. Back to 1400 can be the blow out. YOURTHEONEFORME has been going close all prep and this looks the perfect assignment. Could be on the short side for a limited type. RED EPIC has been disappointing last few starts. Previous runs were better. PRINCESS SATAB can improve second-up. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – DAMASCUS STEEL EACHWAY Race 2 FLAMING GALAH has shades on and that could see her improve the one or two lengths required for her to salute the judge. Has shown ability all campaign and this is winnable. ARABIAN RICHES looked quite sharp in a recent trial. MAKE THE DEVIL MAD and EXIT STAGE RIGHT both join the Midwest team of Jo Leeson late in the season. Both have trailed a number of times in the metro area with mixed results. These types can surprise. Watch for any market support. Numbers: 13 – 8 – 5 – 12 Suggested Bet – FLAMING GALAH EACHWAY Race 3 ADMIRAL HUSSON really has got a nice little association going with emerging apprentice Kristy Bennett. If she can cross them again, lead them again and kick into the corner again then he’ll be hard to beat again. SWEET TALKIN is capable of running the leader down with a soft run up the fence. KINTAIL is racing without luck and runs his races in patches. Catches the eye but doesn’t like winning. REBELLIONAIRE runs around and does a lot wrong. 4kg claimer on those kinds of horses is a risky proposition. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – ADMIRAL HUSSON WIN Race 4 TERRIREM could be the blow out in an even field. Mixes form but going back three starts was a nice run behind talented rival in Hot Style. Stepping to the 1400m suits and places heavy can give you a run. THE CROWN PRINCE is hard to beat after working on top of a strong tempo last start. If McNaught finds the front, hard to catch. ENCENDIO is another Spowart purchase who can go from strength to strength. Can win again. CHURCHES is normally about the place. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – TERRIREM EACHWAY Race 5 HALLDORA looks the standout on the card. Was only run down late in a fast run 70+ race. Now drops in grade, draws to lead and can run them a merry dance. Anything over ~$2.50 is worth being aboard. CORPORATE TRADER produced a run last start which is much more like his best. Can go on with it. ROSA FILENTE won a weak race last start and run into two nicer ones here. DIAMOND JOLSON likely sits outside of Halldora and can be in the finish. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – HALLDORA WIN Race 6 HOT STYLE comes back to Geraldton and tackles a mile for the first time. If he can get a track into the race at the 600 then he’ll flash at them late. Nice progressive type. FEARHILDI has really hit a purple patch of form. Last two starts have been off the charts in terms of leading sections. If McNaught finds the fence she’ll be tough to run down. SADLERS HILLS has hit form and just needs luck from the draw. JIMMY RAPID has been below par for a fair while now. Waiting for improvement. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 4 – 11 Suggested Bet – HOT STYLE WIN Race 7 NO SAY IN IT has his name written all over the Cup. Dan Staeck going up to ride him, fourth up in a preparation and coming out of a race which rates brilliantly for this. This is a big drop in grade for him and he looks very hard to beat. MEDIA BARON looks the one with the ability to roll him if things go his way. Turner has dominated all season and the cup would be fitting. FREEDOM BY CHOICE has found a length or two since being allowed to lead. GALAXY BLAZE will stick the trip. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – NO SAY IN IT WIN Race 8 FINAL SALUTE is first-up, no trial at 1400m and has to lump 61kg but his race form is impeccable for this. He is a Metro66+ winner and was 2nd in a Listed Melvista Stakes as a 3 year old after winning a JC Roberts. Unless he is broken he goes close here. TRADE TALK and POLITICS get rare opportunities late in the season to have senior riders engaged. They both can test the fav. DANEHILL MATILDA is as consistent as they come. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – FINAL SALUTE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,4 1,3,4,6,11 2,6 1,2,3 Market Market
