Scott Embry’s Saturday Mount Barker Preview Posted on April 4, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 ATHLONE CASTLE is first-up without a trial for a small team but if he is anywhere near wound up then this looks a suitable assignment. Showed ability in his debut preparation and this is not a strong line-up. DIRAJA JEWEL has been in the care of Steve Wolfe a long time and has been consistent without setting the world on fire. Weakest race she has seen in a while. ELLENS CHOICE may be let run. SPORTHOUSE DREAM bounced back at Pingrup. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – ATHLONE CASTLE WIN Race 2 FULZUP is in form having won his last two races. He goes lengths better at Barker than elsewhere and again stays in the same class as he has done for his last two victories. No reason he can’t win again. MALILANGWE was scratched last Sunday to be saved for this. 1300m looks right on the limit but in a small field will still be hard to beat. GRADUAL INCLINE is better than what he showed earlier this prep. LADY STINGRAY draws soft and can run a race. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – FULZIP WIN Race 3 I’M PRETTY picks herself. Was good enough first-up over an unsuitable journey and then second-up when the blinkers went on she rolled to the front on a day where the rail was out and leaders typically struggle. Leads or box seats and far too good at the David Shorttes. RAGING ROCKET has been good since joining the stables of Dave Hopperton. ROO should sit on the fence and give a sight at odds. VICIOUS VILMA never got into the race last start but previous form was sound. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – I’M PRETTY WIN Race 4 SENSO has been a good addition to the McNamara team and from the inside gate gets his best chance yet to break through. This is not the deepest 70+ of the season and if Hall can box seat he goes close. RUN LIAM RUN was a big drifter first-up on Sunday and ran accordingly. Far better than that. SIR SNUGALOT should find the fence and that is where he grows a leg. SIXPENCE SPENT on the minimum can always run a race. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – SENSO WIN Race 5 FAIR NAKITA can carry the weight and Louis should either lead or sit right behind Its Not Trading and be there in the finish. Effort last start was better than it reads and previous two were in stronger C5s than this. MESSIAH should enjoy a nice run midfield and has turned a corner in the last month or so. Promised a lot early in his career. IT’S NOT TRADING back in trip should be going close in this. UPTOWN FUNK is a shade of her former self. Always waiting for her to bob up. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – FAIR NAKITA WIN Race 6 STATE PROSECUTOR was gifted a 2 point rating relief after his first-up run and with only four horses inside the handicap he should gobble them up. If he reproduces any of his 3 year old staying runs or runs over the traditional annual Kalgoorlie race round he’ll be winning. PRESS THE PETAL is a consistent mare who is never far away. DARK ROYALTY has been racing better than what it reads on paper but a query at the trip. TORU WAIMARIE next best. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – STATE PROSECUTOR WIN Race 7 IT COMES NATURAL is starting to produce some of the form that Paul Roberts always said that he had. His last start win was impressive and from the inside draw can lead them up or sit box seat. ZACKARIAH BEAU is a nice enough horse. Can win one on the grass before he heads North again. POLDARK’S GIRL is racing no where near as good as she was early in the prep. NIAYCHI is hard to catch but capable on his day. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – IT COMES NATURAL WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,4 1,2,6 1 1,2,4,6 Market Market
