Deane Lester’s Caulfield Best Bets Posted on January 25, 2019January 25, 2019 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Best Bets RACE 1 NO.1 CRACK THE CODE Lightly raced filly CRACK THE CODE is building a good record and looks the one to beat again when she tackles the 3YO Fillies Plate (1100m). The Mick Price trained galloper has two of her three starts to date including a dominant first-up win over 1000 metres at Moonee Valley on December 29. This looks an ideal option for her continue on her way and champion rider Damien Oliver retains the ride. She looks a great start to the day at Caulfield and appeals as the best bet of the day. RACE 5 NO.5 PRETTY BRAZEN The Blue Diamond Preview for Fillies (1000m) looks a deep race with a host of chances, however PRETTY BRAZEN makes appeal at each way odds. The daughter of Brazen Beau made a solid debut finishing second behind MICROPHONE over 1000 metres at Flemington on January 12. She raced virtually alone on the inside of the straight track whilst the winner plotted a wide path which may have been the superior spot given the strong head wind on the day. She is drawn for a sweet run in this race and represents good each way value. RACE 8 NO.5 SILENTZ SILENTZ is striving for a hat track of wins when he tackles the Open Handicap (1700m) and the five year old looks ideally placed to achieve that feat. The Darren Weir trained gelding comes off recent wins at Caulfield and Flemington with the slight rise in distance here not likely to prove an issue. He is drawn for a good run, goes well for rider Dean Yendall and has a great current strike rate as opposed to his rivals that don’t have current recent winning form. He’s a reliable dry tracker that should win again. Market Market
