Deane Lester’s Sandown Best Bets Posted on November 16, 2018 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Best Bets RACE 6 NO.8 FIFTY STARS Exciting galloper FIFTY STARS can book himself a spot in next week’s Railway Stakes with a win in the Sandown Stakes (1500m). The four year old was a dominant winner in restricted grade over 1400 metres at Flemington on November 6 and should be even fitter for that run. He looks ready for the step up to Stakes class especially from a good draw. This race is traditionally a great race for progressive horses and FIFTY STARS fits that bill perfectly; clearly the best bet of the day. RACE 7 NO. 5 SECRET BLAZE SECRET BLAZE is working up to winning form and looks a great each way chance when he runs in the Sandown Guineas (1600m). The Tony McEvoy trained galloper didn’t get much galloping room when finishing a solid third behind RANIER in the Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on November 3. That’s a reliable form reference for this race and the chestnut looks ready to peak at his fourth run for the campaign. RACE 9 NO.6 SPENDING TO WIN Reliable sprinter SPENDING TO WIN has freshened up well since a win earlier in the spring carnival and looks a terrific value chance when he contests the Doveton Stakes (1000m). The grey hasn’t raced since defeating subsequent Group 2 winner EDUARDO over 1000 metres at Caulfield on September 22. That’s a strong formline for this race and he is drawn for a good run. He’s had 19 starts for four wins and 13 placings which is a fine example of his consistency and he’s a great chance again. Market Market
