Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on September 4, 2018September 4, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 WAKAN TANKA has always showed ability. Drawn awkwardly but can roll forwards and park outside the leader. If he lands there he will be right in the mix. DECEPTION GAME should box seat behind the speedy Free Mover and get first crack at him. FREE MOVER was home everywhere bar the post last start. Looks a high cruising speed type who will win races. FROSTY MISS was a sound trial for debut and may sneak well under the radar. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet – WAKAN TANKA WIN Race 2 VELAGO should simply be too classy for these. Seems a strange comment for a horse who has only won a moderate York maiden but he does look very progressive. Follow him throughout the prep. CLEVER DICK went well fresh in a fast run race on a heavily rain affected track. YOU AM I parks right over the speed and his first-up effort was encouraging. GLEN ALBYN can run into the placings without surprising at odds. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – VELAGO WIN Race 3 DANCE MUSIC looks destined for bigger and better wins than this moderate Class 1 fillies and mares race. Her maiden victory was enormous on the clock and the form has already held up. LUCKY LINDA LULU was well supported first-up and was flying late. FA’LION MACHINE will need them to be able to make ground to be any winning hope. TIPS AND SCANDALS is a lightly raced 5 year old with her fair share of ability but strikes a tough race. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – DANCE MUSIC WIN Race 4 NICKLAUS was forced to check of heels just before cornering on debut and lost all momentum. His effort in the home straight was excellent and from the sticky gate it would be no surprise to see him go forwards at start number two. LIGHT MY DAY looks the likely leader and went well on a day when the fence was probably the worst spot to be. SENTIMENTAL GIFT is another well related juvenile who could be in a for a big preparation. The trip is right up her alley. WHAT ABOUT MOSES was never in the race on debut. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 12 – 5 Suggested Bet – NICKLAUS WIN Race 5 SATURIA has had no luck all preparation. She has been slow away at all three starts which is a big concern given the gate she has drawn. Going well enough to win. IT’S GOT IT ALL drops out of Saturday grade, however, has always looked like one who needs to find the fence to win and may not here. LOFTY LAD burnt early and was brave late over 1300m. Interesting to see where he lands. WEST FIFTY FOURTH should be enjoying the run of the race just off a hot tempo and has gone close at both runs this time in. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – SATURIA WIN Race 6 RECHARGER has been ultra impressive at his past two starts since Emma Stent has allowed him to roll in front. Should see a drier track this time in and if they are at an advantage being in front he’ll take some catching. KING BLITZ looks likely to roll forwards and sit parked in the breeze. Won from that position his past two. QUEST TO VENUS has no numerical form whatsoever but think she has been spinning the wheels and can improve sharply. KING OF CHAOS has improved at each start this preparation and Pike goes on. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – RECHARGER EACHWAY Race 7 REEF KEEPER is a big query dropping back sharply in trip. Never won below a mile but this is a weak race and there are queries on a lot of runners and their form. MYCROFT was only fair first-up for a new stable. His trial previously was nice and the step up in trip should suit. SIGIL is Sigil. He runs eye catching races without winning. SUPREME FORCE was disappointing last start when well backed and given every possible by Turner. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – REEF KEEPER EACHWAY Race 8 FLYING ROAR has not seen a race like this in a very long time. 34 of his last 35 runs have been in higher grade than this. He is a 4 time 72+ winner with a career high rating of m85. After the claim for Tayla Stone he is the best weighted horse on the entire card. NEW TIME went enormous first-up considering he isn’t a wet tracker and 1200 is normally a bit sharp for him. Fence was also off that day. PARADISE SQUARE was impressive first-up at 1000m and should position midfield. POINT has been going better than reads on paper and down in grade. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – FLYING ROAR WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3,4,6 1,3,5 1,2,3,4,5,6,8 1,5,7 Market Market
