Deane’s Saturday Caulfield Best Bets Posted on April 7, 2017April 7, 2017 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview RACE 1 NO. 1 PLUTOCRACY PLUTOCRACY looks a progressive type from the Hayes/ Dabernig stable that looks the one to beat again when he contests the Wellington RC Handicap (1200m). The son of Sebring made a winning debut over 1100 metres at Morphettville on March 11, travelling just behind the speed before quickening strongly over the final stages. He will be improved by that experience and looks very well placed in this grade, especially from barrier one with top rider Dwayne Dunn taking the ride. PLUTOCRACY looks a smart horse in the making that should maintain his unbeaten record. RACE 3 NO. 6 TOFFEE NOSE Improving filly TOFFEE NOSE has returned to racing in great form and looks a great winning chance when she contests the Three Year Old Fillies Handicap (1600m). The daughter of Toorak Toff resumed from a spell with a comprehensive win in maiden grade over 1200 metres at Pakenham on February 9. She then stepped up in grade and ran a solid third behind MR SNEAKY over 1400 metres at Flemington on March 4 before her last start second at stakes level behind OREGON DAY in the Alexandra Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on March 24. This is an ideal option for TOFFEE NOSE and she appeals as one of the better bets of the day. SuperPick - RACE 3 NO. 6 TOFFEE NOSE - Money Back – Run 2nd RACE 8 NO. 5 HANS HOLBEIN Imported stayer HANS HOLBEIN only needs to hold his form from last week and he’s the one to beat again when he runs in the JRA Handicap (2400m). The Rob Hickmott trained gelding carried 61kg with ease to a dominant win in fast time over 2400 metres at Bendigo on April 1. He’s on a quick back up after such a fast win which is a slight concern but he’s only had two runs this preparation and this looks a very winnable race, especially dropping 6kg on last week’s run. He looks well graded and can make it back to back wins. Bet Now
