Deane’s Caulfield Saturday Best Bets Posted on February 3, 2017February 3, 2017 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview RACE 2 NO. 3 HURSLEY Talented stayer HURSLEY should be fitter for two runs this campaign and looks the one to beat when he runs in the Robert Hunter Handicap (2000m). The four year old showed sharp improvement at his most recent run when finishing third behind BIG DUKE over 2040 metres at Moonee Valley on January 21. He just peaked on his run that day suggesting that he is open to further improvement and he return to Caulfield where he has had four starts for two wins and two placings. Leading trainer Chris Waller has found the ideal race for HURSLEY to record his fifth career victory and he appeals as one of the better bets of the day. SuperPick - RACE 2 NO. 3 HURSLEY - Profit Plus – 25% (Win) RACE 3 NO. 2 CHANCE TO DANCE CHANCE TO DANCE has been racing well in recent weeks and gets his chance to break through for another win when he contests the Mal Seccull Handicap (2400m). The Robert Hickmott trained gelding is backing up from a brave third behind GOLDSTREAM over 2000 metres at Flemington last Saturday. He is ready to step up in distance and, significantly, elite rider Ben Melham takes the mount. He’s a consistent type that looks well placed to run another bold race. RACE 5 NO. 5 FORMALITY The Hayes/ Dabernig trained filly FORMALITY can stake her claim for the Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) on February 25 with a win in the Chairman’s Stakes (1000m). The daughter of Fastnet Rock was most impressive winning on debut over 1100 metres at Werribee on January 5. She recorded sharp time on that occasion and appeals as a natural two year old running type of filly. Whilst this will be a tougher test, she has the natural talent and race smarts to win again and emerge as a Blue Diamond contender. Bet Now
