Warren Huntly’s Saturday Caulfield Preview Posted on October 18, 2024October 18, 2024 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 Significant rain forecast in the lead up to the meeting could have a major impact on the track rating and any pattern. SUGAR COAT had his chance last time but will be better for the run at 1400m and was beaten by a smart one. BARBARIC LAD has displayed good talent and jumped out well to resume at a suitable trip. CATOGGIO broke his maiden well last start and will give sight. TAKEN is still a maiden but was luckless last start and should relish 1400m. Selections: 1,3,4,11 Suggested Bet: Backing 1 & 3 Same Race Multi: Sugar Coat (Top 2) + Barbaric Lad (Top 4) Race 2 RESERVE BANK measured up well in the Danehill and gives the impression he’ll cope well with 1200m. GALLANT SON is sure to strip fitter after doing some work and tiring late first up. LOFTY ARCH is another that measured up well in the Danehill and no surprise to see the blinkers come straight off. STOLLI BOLLI was well ridden to defeat Gallant Son last time. He’s not likely to be improving but must have a case on that effort. Selections: 6,7,8,5 Suggested Bet: Reserve Bank to win Race 3 RED ACES and KEENELAND come through a key lead up race and both have strong claims again. POLITELY DUN had a confidence booster at Ballarat after closing off well at Flemington. KINGOFWALLSTREET also hit the line strongly in that same race at Flemington and looks suited stepping up to 2000m. SCARY was ok behind Keeneland etc last start and gets blinkers. Selections: 2,1,3,8 Suggested Bet: Red Aces each way Race 4 TOO DARN DISCREET impressed at Flemington, she gives the impression 200m will be ok and looks the hardest to beat. INEVITABLE TRUTH has been back to Sydney and kept up to the mark with a trial following her solid effort behind HURRY CURRY at Flemington both have strong claims. KILLCARE BEACHGIRL stuck on well behind Too Darn Discreet and will make her own luck. FEMMINILE may be looking for this trip now. Selections: 1,6,4,5 Suggested Bet: Too Darn Discreet to win Race 5 NIANCE is unbeaten first up and has looked stakes class since arrive at the Begg stables. She’s jumped out in typically good style for this prep. ISHTMUS is the other that looks well up to this grade and has a race fitness advantage. LEMPICKA didn’t fire first up bur has jumped out in great style since and is capable of dramatic improvement. PONDALOWIE has developed some tactical versatility and will strip fitter for a strong first up win in easier company. Selections: 10,8,3,11 Suggested Bet: Niance each way Race 6 MATISSE did enough first up behind Bellatrix Star and should appreciate the rise in distance. GEEGEES MISTRUTH comes through the same race, she has measured up well at her two Vic runs and gives the impression 1400m will be ok. AMEENA has the wide draw but brings strong Sydney form. ZEITUNG and TOBEORNOTTOBE have claims. Selections: 5,3,1,6 Suggested Bet: Matisse each way Race 7 SANS DOUTE may have found it a bit too wet at Flemington. She should be suited by strong tempo and will be strong late. REY MAGNERIO comes back to 1000m but crossed the line with Jimmysstar first up and will also be charging late. ESTRIELLA drops significantly in grade but rises in weight and not sure she’s at her best this prep. MIDTOWN BOSS has jumped out well and is another that will appreciate a solid tempo. KATSU has trialled in his usual sharp fashion. Selections: 6,1,8,9 Suggested Bet: Sans Doute each way Race 8 SKYBIRD has retuned in great form and is drawn to settle a bit closer in the run. PLENTY OF AMMO looks promising and ran well against the boys first up. MISS ARIA comes through the same race as Skybird and also draw to settle in a more forward position. REVOLUTIONARY MISS won that race from a favourable draw but has claims again despite the wide draw. Selections: 4,14,9,2 Suggested Bet: Skybird each way Race 9 BUCKAROO has been in outstanding form since resuming as a gelding and comes through the strongest races. His late sectionals were solid at his only test at 2400m to date and he seems an improved galloper this prep. LAND LEGEND has improved nicely into this campaign should be at his peak after his Metrop win. ZARDOZI was back to something like her best in the Metrop and gets a weight swing on Land Legend. SAYEDATY SADATY brings strong international form and maps for a soft run. CIRCLE OF FIRE may be better suited in the Melbourne Cup but is racing himself back into form and will be strong late. ELIYASS measure up well in the Turnbull, the obvious query is 2400m but he will make his own luck. Selections: 2,8,13,18 Suggested Bet: Buckaroo each way Race 10 PINSTRIPED is the key runner. He pulled up lame last start but he’s well treated under the weight scale on his previous WFA form. GENTLEMAN ROY has been freshened, his form ties in with Pinstriped and he’s jumped out well between runs. RIPCORD and LAWS OF INDICES were both ok down the straight last time and should be suited stepping up to 1400m. COASTWATCH hasn’t had the clearest passage in his last couple and should get more room from a wider draw. Selections: 1,2,8,12 Suggested Bet: Pinstriped to win Market Market
