Warren Huntly’s Saturday Caulfield Preview Posted on October 13, 2023October 13, 2023 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 Competitive start. KETTLE HILL hit the line well first up and will appreciate stepping up to 1700m. MAKTOOB shapes as a strong danger third up after working home strongly second up. MATRON BULLWINKEL has been kept fresh since her first up win and is a winner at this trip. RHINOCEROS may control the tempo and prove hard to get past. RED SUN SENSATION will strip fitter and is another that will appreciate rising in trip. Selections: 4,8,9,12 Suggested Bet: Kettle Hill each way Race 2 APPIN GIRL looked promising in her first campaign. She’s trialled well in Brisbane and jumped out impressively at Flemington to kick off her second preparation. SHESALLSHENANIGANS absorbed pressure from the inside draw and stuck on ok last time. SERASANA will strip fitter and should appreciate stepping up to 1200m. MISS ARIA and FRAGILE LOVE had excuses at their latest runs and have claims. Selections: 2,1,3,7 Suggested Bet: Appin Girl to win Race 3 BRAYDEN STAR impressed winning the Benalla Cup and the form through Future History at his previous start reads well. He gives the impression 2400m will be ok. CARINI faces the challenge of rising to 2400m third up and rising in grade but looks a promising stayer. DAQIANSWEET JUNIOR has been building nicely this campaign and will appreciate stepping up in distance. MILITARY MISSION is hard fit and brings solid NSW form. Selections: 7,8,1,4 Suggested Bet: Playing multiples around 7,8 & 1 Race 4 GREY RIVER has been kept fresh since her strong win over 1100m and should be suited by what appears to be a decent tempo. SERADESS did a lot of the chasing behind RED CARD last time and both have strong claims again. CARDIGAN QUEEN won that race so must have a case. ROSE QUARTZ will strip fitter second up and although she’s yet to win here, she’s always run well. Selections: 5,6,2,8 Suggested Bet: Grey River each way Race 5 Shapes as a match race between ASFOORA and UNCOMMON JAMES, both coming though the same race behind Imperatriz in track record time. Leaning Asfoora, who is likely to settle in front of Uncommon James and try to dash away straightening. Blinkers going on Uncommon James may help him hold her back in what promises to be an enthralling contest. INGRATIATING has had a tick over trial since chasing Asfoora last start. CHAIN OF LIGHTNING has jumped out well to resume. Selections: 7,2,1,8 Suggested Bet: Asfoora to win Race 6 BUFFALO RIVER was back to something like his best last start and scoots around the 1400m circuit here well. REGARDSMAREE is fit, racing consistently and will appreciate a solid tempo up front. MINSK MOMENT was a late scratching at the barriers last week, he’ll strip fitter second up and is suited stepping up to 1400m. RUBAMOS did enough first up and will also relish the rise to 1400m. No real knock on AYRTON but want to see him perform on race day after the issues he’s had. Selections: 2,6,5,9 Suggested Bet: Buffalo River each way Same Race Multi: Buffalo River (Top 2) + Regardsmaree (Top 3) Race 7 ALLIGATOR BLOOD backed up to win well last time and has been given a solid ground to get back to 2000m. He should be in a controlling position and looks hard to beat again. DUAIS chased well behind Alligator Blood and looks ideally placed stepping up to 2000m. LINDERMANN was below expectations in the same race but is a Group 1 winner at 2000m and can improve. JUST FINE makes the step to WFA but is racing in outstanding form and should be strong late dropping back to 2000m. Selections: 1,9,8,6 Suggested Bet: Alligator Blood to win Race 8 WISHLOR LASS looks progressive and capable of taking another rise in class, she had no luck at her only run at 1600m to date. SHE’S A CON worked home strongly at her first Australian run and will appreciate 1600m. PAPILLON CLUB and PARTY PRINCESS chased a hot speed last time and there was merit in both runs. Papillon Club can settle closer with a clean get away. BARBIE’S FOX has the wide draw to contend with but will be strong late. Selections: 10,6,3,4 Suggested Bet: Wishlor Lass to win Race 9 STEPARTY has displayed great fighting qualities and tactical versatility in his career to date. No reason to doubt him stepping up to 1600m. MILITARIZE is the proven Group 1 performer of this field and will relish getting back out to this trip. SCENTIFY may have been ridden a little closer than ideal last time and his form lines up well with Steparty. KING COLORADO and SCHEELITE are right in the game. Selections: 4,1,8,3 Suggested Bet: Steparty each way Feature Race Multi: Steparty to finish top two with Militarize and Scentify to finish top four STEPARTY has displayed great fighting qualities and tactical versatility in his career to date. Race 10 AMELIA’S JEWEL is building an outstanding record and you can make excuses for her two defeats to date. Despite carrying plenty of weight for a mare, she looks the one to beat coming off her track record run. PRIDE OF JENNI set up that track record pace and gets a significant weight swing, so must have a case. ANTINO won well enough last start and is open to further improvement. THE INEVITABLE had no luck in the Epsom and his run in the All Star Mail underlines his class. PINSTRIPED has a case, as does AMENABLE, if you forgive his last run. Selections: 3,10,6,2 Suggested Bet: Amelia’s Jewel to win Market Market
