Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on October 13, 2023October 13, 2023 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 FESS UP (1) has won six of his last nine starts including a narrow but impressive victory over Star Casino at his last start. He has a significant barrier advantage over his main rival and he should lead and prove hard to catch. IM THE BLACK FLASH (11) is now living up to his early promise and he is the obvious danger. LONGREACH BAY (4) was an upset winner in good time two starts back and a repeat performance should see him thereabouts. BURGHLEY SHARD (10) can be placed from this draw. Tips: 1 11 4 10 Suggested Bet: FESS UP (1) to win. Race 2 CLASSIC CHOICE (4) caught the eye when flashing home to finish 2nd to Thomson Bay in quick time here last week. He can press forward at the start tonight and should give a great sight. TRICKY MIKI (10) didn’t perform at his best last time in and resumes without a trial but has plenty of ability and he must be respected. PER ARDUA AD ASTRA (2) has done things wrong at his last two starts but looks the likely leader here and could be a big improver. COOPER (1) looks a good place chance from his perfect draw. Tips: 4 10 2 1 Suggested Bet: CLASSIC CHOICE (4) to win. Race 3 VALENTINES BROOK (6) drops in class on his last two starts that both resulted in placings and he appeals as the one to beat. SEERYANFLY (1) was a good winner from the stand two starts back and is drawn to be prominent throughout. IMA FIVE STAR GENERAL (4) was fancied at his return but the race wasn’t run to suit and he can figure tonight. OTIS (9) is first-up and is drawn poorly but he trialled nicely for his return and is one to watch. Tips: 6 1 4 9 Suggested Bet: VALENTINES BROOK (6) to win. Race 4 TALKS UP A STORM (1) crossed from a wide draw when leading throughout in 1.55.7 and a repeat performance will see him hard to catch. FASTER THAN DAD (2) resumed with an impressive 15m victory and the rise in class tonight is offset by his nice draw. EL CHEMA (4) is first-up without a trial but he has a great turn of foot and will be charging home. YOURE SO FINE (8) steps up in class and is drawn wide but he has won seven of his past eight starts and must be considered. Tips: 1 2 4 8 Suggested Bet: TALKS UP A STORM (1) to win. Race 5 JUMPINGJACKMAC (1) hasn’t had races run to suit this time in but he draws to make his own luck and looks the one to beat if he can hold up at the start. STEEL THE SHOW (3) showed blistering gate speed to cross and lead throughout and he will be hard to catch if he does find the front. DIEGO (10) will enjoy a soft run on the pegs and will be dangerous if he sees daylight at the right time. TENZING BROMAC (4) has gone to a new level this time in and will be right in the finish if he gets the right run in transit. Tips: 1 3 10 4 Suggested Bet: DIEGO (10) each way. Race 6 CYCLONE CHARLOTTE (10) finished her last campaign with three ultra-impressive wins and is the one to beat if she has any luck from her awkward barrier. BEYOND THE SEA (6) has put the writing on the wall with two gallant 2nds and should break back into the winners’ circle soon. SPORT SPORT SPORT (1) has won three of her last four starts in easier company but the rise in class is offset by her perfect draw. SIMPLY SHAZ (2) has been racing well without winning and should be thereabouts again. Tips: 10 6 1 2 Suggested Bet: CYCLONE CHARLOTTE (10) to win. Race 7 MISTER SMARTEE (5) has impressed with two all-the-way wins since crossing the Tasman in easier company. He goes up in class but he looks to have scope for further improvement and appeals as the one to beat. SKYLOU (6) was an impressive all-the-way winner at his second start in the state and looks to have plenty of ability and is one of the main dangers. ROLLING FIRE (9) was a solid 3rd to Never Ending at his last start and is up to these on ability but has a tough draw to overcome. FRISKY STYX (1) is a place chance from the pole. Tips: 5 6 9 1 Suggested Bet: MISTER SMARTEE (5) to win. Race 8 WHOS THE DAD (2) was surprisingly beaten for early speed but still ran well when 3rd in fast time here last week. He looks the likely leader if he displays his usual gate speed and will be hard to beat in that role. MISTER VERSACE (1) has only been plain in his two runs back but could be a big improver from the pole. ROCKABALL (10) is likely to settle three back on the pegs and will be charging home if he sees daylight at the right time. HILLVIEW BONDI (9) is up to these on ability but the draw has cruelled his chances. Tips: 2 1 10 9 Suggested Bet: WHOS THE DAD (2) to win. Race 9 DUTY BOUND (1) has been placed in his last three starts and he should give a great sight over the sprint trip if he can hold up at the start. OUR STAR WATCH (10) hasn’t had much luck in his two starts back from a spell but should enjoy a soft run and can be dangerous late. COWBOYS N BANDITS (7) only had five starts last time in and resumes without a trial but he has plenty of ability if he is ready to go. CHERRY ON THE CAKE (2) has good gate speed and she will give them something to chase if she can cross the polemarker. Tips: 1 10 7 2 Suggested Bet: DUTY BOUND (1) to win. Race 10 XCEPTIONAL ARMOUR (6) won three of her four starts this time in before struggling against the boys in the Golden Slipper and is clearly the one to beat. BAZAAR PACKAGE (5) has finished towards the rear at her two starts this time in but could use her gate speed tonight and she would give a great sight if she crosses at the start. WORLD SECRET (2) was a strong winner from the breeze at her last start and won’t be far away from her nice draw. HEARTOFAHLIA (1) won a weaker event at her last start and can be placed from the pole. Tips: 6 5 2 1 Suggested Bet: XCEPTIONAL ARMOUR (6) to win. Market Market
