Scott Embry’s Friday Carnarvon Preview Posted on July 10, 2025July 10, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 KING MAHUTA has his first start on the dirt which is always an unknown but as a general rule Brett Pope’s have always handled the conditions, especially at Carnarvon. Tash Faithfull is the best rider in the region and she’ll no doubt look to keep him off the fence and sustaining a run into the race. DIVINE JUDGEMENT has a set of shades applied and Alex Hearn in the saddle. Looks the leader off those two changes! LE TROY broke his maiden well and has been competitive since. SKITTISH could be in all sorts if crossed early. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – KING MAHUTA WIN RACE 2 CHEEKY CHARLOTTE won well at her Carnarvon debut and then could only manage fourth as a beaten favourite at her second outing. Drops 7kg after the Jefferson Tsang claim and expecting her to be very hard to hold out. HEARTFORD HOUSE is bursting to win a race and returns to Carnarvon after back to back placings at Roebourne. OREGON HIKER continues the run of Brett Pope horses who are new to the region and should be measuring up. Racing below his best but this is far easier than recent assignments. ROMERO is suited back to 1000. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – CHEEKY CHARLOTTE WIN RACE 3 SHASFA is really speedy. Expect that they will use that very much to their advantage and really see whether any of these more 1200m types can go with her over the early and middle stages. There’s definite a scenario where she’ll be 3 – 4 lengths clear of them on straightening. Love that on the dirt and going to gamble on her crossing, leading and holding on late. Only win was at Mt Magnet leading and winning at 1000. Rinse & Repeat. EIN STEIN comes back in trip and draws barrier 1 which might be both against him but was good last start. GREY MISTRESS a watch fresh. CALICOS GIRL next best. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – SHASFA WIN RACE 4 PUDDIN N PIE finished second in a 1400m maiden behind Aurora Queen three back at Northam, finished less than 3L off Romantic Ruler and Impressive Jewel (in the Belmont Oaks Saturday) in a 1500m maiden two back and last start led and faded behind Queen Aria and subsequent winner Tobian. All reads up well for a Carnarvon maiden. CASINO ROYALE now gets out to 1600m and will keep coming. Logical danger. LONG WAIT did a good job at her first dirt outing behind Kunapipi and Casino Royale. SWEET EYES will improve start to start on the dirt. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – PUDDIN N PIE WIN RACE 5 KUNAPIPI won soft at her first dirt outing for new trainer Peter Daly and considering the maidens went slightly quicker than the 56+ horses same distance/same day going to suggest she can take the step into C3 with success. IMPERIALIZE would be $1.30 if this was on grass. He’s dropping out of Graduation races into a C3 at Carnarvon – but punter beware, if he’s priced on his grass form he could be vulnerable racing on the dirt for the first time. SHABALALA was some win? First-up, no trial, at 1400m, back in traffic and bursting through for an extending victory. Rises to 62kg and would prefer if this was 1600m but boy it was impressive. WESTERN IMPACT was good in the same event. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – KUNAPIPI WIN RACE 6 WISE WORDS and LACEVINSKY come through the Aroochacha race which as run 7.5L faster than average. That’s the form line you want to follow and that’s likely to be the form line which the punters will launch. WISE WORDS has been in form all season and is ready to win now. LACEVINSKY has been outstanding in both dirt runs. The old boy is going super. CONSERVATIVE MISS had a great end to the Geraldton season when Meg Forrester’s horses were flying. BIG CITIES hasn’t won for ages but was once known as the back-up King. Off 6 days here. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – WISE WORDS WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 4 1,3,6,7,9,10 1,3,4,5 1,3 Market Market
