Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview

Race 1

GULLY GUM (1) was crossed from this draw last week but he enjoyed a lovely run and sprinted well to defeat Showpony. He looks a good chance to hold the front here and will be hard to beat in that role. BLAZE ON (11) was a strong winner from the breeze in good time at his last start and can test the favourite. RAKERO RAIDER (10) has been placed in five of his six starts this time in and is drawn to be in the money again. TORPEDO ROCK (12) should settle midfield and will be suited if there is a solid tempo.

Race 2

ILLAWONG MUSTANG (3) was very impressive when winning his heat and slick time and appeals as the one to beat. SEA FURY (2) looked to have his chance when 3rd in his heat but must be considered from his nice draw. LORD PUBLISHER (1) trailed ILLAWONG MUSTANG (1) when 2nd to that pacer and a similar scenario looks likely tonight. RONALD SCOTT (6) faced the breeze when a strong winner of his heat and will make his presence felt again.

Suggested Bet: ILLAWONG MUSTANG (3) to win.

Race 3

IM LIGHTNING BANNER (4) has found the front and won his last three starts and will be hard to catch if he takes up that position again. HALE SAINT LOUIE (1) faced the breeze when a strong 3rd in his heat and has options from the pole. WAVERIDER (10) is awkwardly drawn but he is a classy customer who will be in the finish if he has any luck in running. MAUNGATHI (11) has a nice trailing draw and will be charging home if there is a solid tempo.

Suggested Bet: IM LIGHTNING BANNER (4) to win.

Race 4

SWINGBAND (8) faced the breeze when a game 2nd in 1.55.5 at his first run back from a spell and followed that with a solid 4th here last week and will appreciate the drop in class tonight. PINNY TIGER (9) may be able to cross at the start and would be the one to beat if he could but may be driven more conservatively first-up. BLITZEMBYE (1) hasn’t threatened in his four starts this time in but should be a big improver from the pole. MACHNIFICENT (7) is back to his best and will be suited if there is a solid tempo.

Suggested Bet: SWINGBAND (8) to win.

Race 5

SUNNYS LITTLE ROSE (2) is a reliable trotter who has been placed in seven of her past eight starts and will give them something to catch if she can step to the front. CHUMANI (7) has been impressive in winning his last three starts but won’t find it as easy off a 10m handicap. PATCHED (14) is the class trotter of the field and can win if he gets the right cart into the race. UPTOWN LAD (3) led when 4th here last week and may be better suited with a sit tonight.

Suggested Bet: SUNNYS LITTLE ROSE (2) to win.

Race 6

XPRESS PARTY (1) resumed with an impressive win after starting from a wide draw and is clearly the one to beat here after coming up with the pole draw. MY HAMMER DOWN (2) has recorded comfortable all-the-way wins at his last two starts and must be considered again. FULL SWING DENARIO (7) overcame a back line draw to run a nice 2nd to MY HAMMER DOWN (2) at his last start and looks set to win many races. SOHO SHAKEDOWN (6) is undefeated in three starts and has plenty of ability but this is his biggest test.

Suggested Bet: XPRESS PARTY (1) to win.

Race 7

BLAZE COOPS (1) has finished 2nd at his last two starts and should lead and take plenty of catching tonight. CARRERA MACH (10) grows a leg on the pegs and will get every chance from the barrier. INSTA GATOR (9) is probably the best horse in the race but he will have to do plenty of work from out here. CHACO EAGLE (6) has won three of his last four starts but will need some luck from this draw.

Race 8

CHAMPAGNE EVERYONE (3) was first-up when a nice 2nd to PRINCESS KATIE (8) and can turn the tables with a barrier advantage and improved fitness. PRINCESS KATIE (8) is racing extremely well and is capable of overcoming the wide draw. CHILLI PUNTER (11) has three wins and two 2nds from her last five starts and must be respected but is better suited when she can race on speed. ALTA ALLURE (9) has plenty of ability and could surprise at big odds if the race is run to suit.

Suggested Bet: CHAMPAGNE EVERYONE (3) to win.

Race 9

JAXS IDEAL (3) resumed with a comfortable heat win of this event and is clearly the one to beat tonight. CASSINI BELLE (1) finished a fair way back in her heat but looks a good place chance from the pole. ELIZABETH AITCH (9) looks to have plenty of ability and will become a winning chance if they hold the favourite out at the start. WHOOPSADAISY (2) is an improving type who can give cheek from her nice draw.

Tips: 3 1 9 2

Suggested Bet: JAXS IDEAL (3) to win.

Race 10

ALTA KING (2) is still green but he has plenty of promise and he will give a great sight here if he handles his first attempt on a smaller track. HOLD YOUR FIRE (1) led throughout in moderate time to win his last start and will be prominent throughout from the pole. ARISE LAZARUS (10) is only a 3YO but he has been placed in his last three starts and will enjoy a soft run on the pegs. DON DIABLO (11) is still a maiden after three starts but is capable of being in the finish.
