Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on September 21, 2023September 21, 2023 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 ARTFUL MAJOR (11) followed an impressive win over Grevis with a strong 2nd from the breeze and looks the one to beat from his nice trailing draw. ARMA BELIEVER (7) ran on nicely for a close-up 7th in the Westbred Classic here last week and will appreciate the drop in class tonight. ON THE BACK FOOT (1) has finished just the behind the placegetters at his last three starts but can be a big improver from the pole. OPAL HUNTER (9) is a last start winner with plenty of ability but he will need some luck from his wide draw. Tips: 11 7 1 9 Suggested Bet: ARTFUL MAJOR (11) to win. Race 2 LAMANDIER (2) wasn’t suited here last week but is drawn to be prominent throughout from this barrier and appeals as the one to beat. STATE OF HEAVEN (10) is awkwardly drawn but he loves the distance and should be in the finish if he can get off the pegs at the right time. REGAL CHEVAL (3) has very good gate speed and will give a great sight if he can cross at the start. NAME IN LIGHTS (1) is drawn to get a nice run behind the speed and looks a good place chance. Tips: 2 10 3 1 Suggested Bet: STATE OF HEAVEN (10) each way. Race 3 MEA CULPA (1) was narrowly beaten in 1.53.1 after facing the breeze here last week and will be the one to beat if he can hold up at the start. VALENTINES BROOK (11) ran on well to run a nice 2nd to Kimble here at his last start and he will be suited by the likelihood of a faster tempo here. WHATABRO (10) is drawn to get a soft run on the pegs and can be dangerous if he sees daylight at the right time. VAMPIRO (8) has finished at the rear at his two starts back from a spell but drops in class and it is possible that he could cross at the start. Tips: 1 11 10 8 Suggested Bet: VALENTINES BROOK (11) each way. Race 4 DIEGO (1) hasn’t been convincing in his three starts back from a spell but he is drawn to lead here and looks the one to beat. JUMPINGJACKMAC (3) hasn’t been suited in three slowly run affairs but is racing well and looks the main danger. MINSTREL (4) resumes here and has the strength to face the breeze and fight out the finish if he is forward in condition. MIGHTY RONALDO (8) has a brilliant turn of foot but will need a fast early tempo to overcome his wide draw. Tips: 1 3 4 8 Suggested Bet: DIEGO (1) to win. Race 5 AUGUST MOON (8) has been dominant in winning all five starts this time in and is clearly the one to beat despite the wide draw. CASTELLA DELLAQUA (1) has won three of her four starts since crossing the Nullabor and should lead and give a great sight here. ZEPHYRA (10) had to do too much work and disappointed at her last start but is drawn to get a nice run on the pegs here and looks a good each way chance. TURN THE PAGE (5) has impressed in winning four of her five starts since arriving in WA but rises in class for this assignment. Tips: 8 1 10 5 Suggested Bet: ZEPHYRA (10) each way. Race 6 ALCOPONY (2) led throughout in 1.53.1 here last week and will be hard to catch if he finds the front in the early stages tonight. YOURE SO FINE (3) is unbeaten in seven starts this time in including a win over ALCOPONY (2) at his last start and is an obvious danger. CHAL PATCH (5) drops in class on his last start 4th to Prince Of pleasure and should enjoy a nice run just off the speed. HOPPYS WAY (4) is a versatile type who will be prominent throughout and can play a part. Tips: 2 3 5 4 Suggested Bet: ALCOPONY (2) to win. Race 7 ACHARNE GIRL (7) has resumed with two victories and is clearly the one to beat again. QUEENINTHECORNER (2) showed plenty of ability in her juvenile career but resumes here after a year away from the racetrack for a new stable. She has trialled fairly and looks the main danger. ROCKNROLL SASS (11) is a consistent mare who will be suited if there is a solid tempo. DONTBESILLYCHILLI (6) caused an upset when defeating Wonderful To Fly at her last start and must be considered on that performance. Tips: 7 2 11 6 Suggested Bet: ACHARNE GIRL (7) to win. Race 8 EL CASANOVA (1) has won seven of his ten career starts and impressed when running a very quick last 800m at Kellerberrin in his latest win. He draws to lead and is clearly the one to beat despite the rise in class. LUSAKA (11) has won seven of his last eight starts and is the obvious danger but isn’t as well suited from a back line draw. MY ULTIMATE BAXTER (10) disappointed at his first start in WA but is drawn to get the run of the race and can figure. CHEER THE MAJOR (6) is extremely consistent and should be thereabouts again. Tips: 1 11 10 6 Suggested Bet: EL CASANOVA (1) to win. Race 9 LOVE ON THE ROCKS (2) crosses the Tasman with good NZ form and looks the one to beat after drawing inside his main rival. MY LITTLE BIG MAN (6) has won all five starts this time in, four of them from the stand, and is the obvious danger. CALL TO ARMS (1) is a last start winner who is a reliable stand performer and should be thereabouts from the pole. COOPER (4) will be a good place chance if he can cross at the start and sit on one of the favoured runners. Tips: 2 6 1 4 Suggested Bet: LOVE ON THE ROCKS (2) to win. Race 10 BLAMEITONTHENIGHT (2) has won two of his three starts since crossing the Tasman and looks the likely leader and one to beat from his nice draw. AZTERIAN (4) won his first two starts in the state before running a strong 3rd from the breeze in quick time at his last start and is the obvious danger. WALSH (1) has only been placed once in his last 20 starts but should be a big improver from the pole. IRA POOLE (9) was beaten as a short-priced favourite here last week and is drawn poorly but does have ability. Tips: 2 4 1 9 Suggested Bet: BLAMEITONTHENIGHT (2) to win. Market Market
