The Scout: Women’s World Cup Matchday 14 Posted on August 2, 2023August 2, 2023 | Posted by The Scout Group G – Argentina v Sweden Argentina showed plenty of character to earn a point against South Africa having been two goals down. However, the result left them a tough to task to qualify from the group. They must win this game and hope for a favourable result elsewhere. Miriam Mayorga is suspended for yellow card accumulation, while Romina Nunez is expected to return to the starting line up having scored in the previous game. Sweden can afford to lose and still likely top the group, but they will be keen to keep the momentum going following a great start to the tournament. The Scandanavians crushed Italy 5-0 with Amanda Ilestedt scoring twice. Coach Peter Gerhardsson hinted in his press conference that the team will change based on player fitness, but he wouldn’t disclose any specifics to the media. Sweden to win @ $1.56* Group G – South Africa v Italy South Africa captain Refiloe Jane is likely to play despite rolling her ankle against Argentina. However, midfielder Kholosa Biyana is suspended. Linda Motlhalo found the net in the last game and is one of the team’s most exciting players. She will need to put in another good showing if South Africa are to win and progress. Italy’s goal difference could count against them after they shipped five without reply against Sweden. Coach Milena Bertolini has a full squad to pick from and could be tempted to ring the changes knowing a win sees them through. Valentina Giacinti may be restored to the starting side having been dropped to the bench. Draw @ $4.05* Group F – Panama v France Panama are playing for pride after back-to-back defeats but they are firm underdogs against the European giants. Goalkeeper Yanith Bailey pulled off some good saves in 1-0 loss to Jamaica, and she can expect to be very busy again. Emily Cedeno and Riley Tanner should offer some threat from wide positions. France bounced back from a lacklustre showing against Jamaica to beat Brazil and will now expect to finish top of the group. Coach Herve Renard brought Eve Perisset, Kenza Dali, and Selma Bacha into the team for that one and all three should retain their spots. Expect an attacking approach from the outset. France to win @ $1.03* Group F – Jamaica v Brazil Jamaica earned their first ever Women’s World Cup win by beating Panama 1-0 in Perth on Saturday night, and they did it without star striker Khadija Shaw. The captain will return for this one and a draw would be enough for the Reggae Girlz to make the knockout stage, sending Brazil home in the process. Brazil were shell shocked by a late winning goal for France and need to pick themselves up for a simple scenario – win and they’re into the last 16. Despite the defeat, coach Pia Sundhage is likely to stick with the same starting eleven, which means no place for Marta and important roles up front for Debinha and Geyse. Brazil to win @ $1.24* Multi Sweden – Win South Africa v Italy – Goals in both halves – Yes Panama v France – Over 3.5 Total Goals Brazil – Win @ 4.67* *Odds correct as at 9am, 2nd August 2023.
