Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on August 2, 2023August 2, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DUBAI’S DAUGHTER gained a start as E1 last Wednesday but Grant & Alana Williams elected to scratch and wait for this week. They’re rewarded with a small field of 6 to kick off her campaign and off the back of her impressive 5L trial win she looks hard to toss. Has impressed in all four public trial appearances and looks a nice filly in the making. BONDI PLUNGE has been given a freshen. Danny Morton’s yard are genius at getting these horses home first-up off a 2 – 3 month break and she’s another talented filly. PLATINUM SHOT ran second behind Live To Tell in the Listed Supremacy Stakes and yet amazingly could go round on the third line! STORMCHASER beat a nice one in his 400m jump out win. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – DUBAI’S DAUGHTER WIN RACE 2 ILGIRO DELMONDO, COOL MEMORY and EXTREME LOVE all come through the same race behind Keshi Boom and now all take on the older horses as newly turned 3 year olds. This looks a race where many of the older horses have had their chance and the trio of 3 year olds are the ones with both upside and weight relief. Siding up with ILGIRO DELMONDO who worked throughout when running a brave second. COOL MEMORY ran third and darted back to the inside pad which was clearly inferior ground on the day. EXTREME LOVE was knocked around pillar to post when looking like she had plenty to offer half way up the straight. GOD’S WRATH next best. Numbers: 10 – 9 – 12 – 1 Suggested Bet – ILGIRO DELMONDO WIN RACE 3 DON’T TRUST JUDAS has his first start for Grant & Alana Williams and has trialled super for his return. In the first trial he looked like he was just there for a ‘get to know you’ kind of hit out and then in the second trial when William Pike pulled him out and around heels he gobbled them up with ease. Like him as a type and think he’s well worth following. MISS AVA is no slouch. She finished third in a C1 and drops 1kg coming back into a maiden. Drawn awkwardly but it won’t be long before she’s breaking through. HARLEQUIN PRANCER got to the line well on debut and has the cutaway and 53.5kg in her favour. INDIE RULER will burn across from out wide. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 14 – 1 Suggested Bet – DON’T TRUST JUDAS WIN RACE 4 SPRING IN HER STEP has shades going on and comes back from a handy effort in a C3 behind Bread To Flirt and subsequent Saturday 3 year old winner Becalotti. Hard to argue with that form. Looks a race where you could make a case for almost every runner with so many clashing and alternate form references. TRIONFANTE is drawn a gate, she’s showing good gate speed and she’s seemingly handling the wet track conditions (placed Soft7 & Heavy9 this campaign). PLATINUM CLASS is another who has raced in tougher races since breaking her maiden. GOLD KEEPER an improver. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – SPRING IN HER STEP WIN RACE 5 WOZZECK has raced in higher grade at his last 10 outings. Over Autumn he finished fourth in the Challenge Stakes (1500) and fourth in the Lex Piper Stakes (1600) at Listed Level. His first-up run was solid behind Bonjoy (beating home Diamond Command) and second-up he never got into the race. Looks very winnable by his standards. WEIGHTMAN and BUCKLAND ran second and third respectively behind Floppy same track/distance/conditions last week and are sure to be competitive again. SHE’S OUR WITNESS caught the eye fresh. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – WOZZECK WIN RACE 6 RED DWARF looks ready to win. He hit the line well behind Allez Allez and Tallangatta in a 60+ Graduation over 1600m two starts ago before finishing less than 3L off Our Norman in a 66+ 2200 last start. Infront of him in that finish were Pearce Pair Queen Alina and Outspoken Lad which makes it a really attractive form reference. Love the fact they’ve kept the senior rider on and elected to carry the weight. PRINCE I THINK drops out of the Aquanita Stakes and Belmont Classic. Scratched from Saturday to save for this. Hard to run down. TRULY RELIABLE has come right back down in the ratings system. Needs this distance range. FORLANE next best. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – RED DWARF WIN RACE 7 DIVINE FLIRT looks like she’ll get every opportunity from the perfect draw. She’s getting through the wet tracks well, she’s got tactical speed and she’ll hold an advantage over Red Fifty Three in the run. They do look the pair in this event and there’s very little between them. RED FIFTY THREE rocketed to the line first-up behind King Cruzer. He’s clearly back to somewhere near his best and he’ll be very hard to hold out with the right run. HINT OF MINT won back to back races in this grade in June. BLOW ME OUT can be hit and miss. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – DIVINE FLIRT WIN RACE 8 DORADO has savaged the line first-up and second-up in higher grade. He is a winner on a Heavy9 previously and watching the replays of his first two runs behind talented Saturday types like Universal Flair, Aztec Ruler, Sunny Honey and Galactic Storm it’s easy to sell yourself on him as a big winning chance here third-up back in grade. GAGE ROADS drops back into a C3 and with the claim of Brayden Gaerth and the cutaway rail he should have no excuse. YARRALEA continues to run honest races. She’s a lovely bread and butter mare. PRO LATTE is another live chance on what looks a massive day for Grant & Alana Williams on paper. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 11 Suggested Bet – DORADO EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,3,5,7,9 2,3,4,5,6,7 2,3 1,2,4,6,11 Market Market
