The Scout: UFC 256 Posted on December 10, 2020December 10, 2020 | Posted by The Scout Deiveson Figueiredo vs Brandon Moreno 2020 has been a great year for current flyweight champion, Deiveson Figueiredo, who has gone undefeated in three fights, winning all in fast, clinical fashion. Brandon Moreno is a worthy challenger, also undefeated this year and coming in fresh (November 22) off a first round TKO victory over Brandon Royval. Both fighters featured in UFC 255, but ultimately took very little damage in their respective wins. Figueiredo was not tested at all while Moreno had to work just a little harder for his victory. Moreno is a prolific grappler. He has 10 wins by submission, and has never lost by submission. The Mexican native will look to take this fight to the ground at any given opportunity. Figueiredo is no slouch with his ground game however, and I think that leaves this fight to be decided on their feet, where the current champ has a clear advantage. Figueiredo is a more fluid striker with patience, precision and knockout power. He might be the hardest hitting flyweight we’ve seen with nine of his 20 wins coming by KO or TKO. Suggested Bet: Deiveson Figueiredo by KO/TKO @ 2.25* Tony Ferguson vs Charles Oliveira Tony Ferguson was absolutely mauled in his last fight against Justin Gaethje ending a 12 fight win streak. He’ll be desperate to atone for what was seen on that night. Charles Oliveira is the underdog here, but enters with a seven fight winning streak and a well-earned top 10 ranking in the lightweight division. Despite an ever-improving striking game, Oliveira’s best route to victory over Ferguson is through through jiu-jitsu. The Brazilian holds a black belt and has won 19 of his 38 professional MMA fights by submission. Ferguson however is one of the most most well-rounded fighters in the division – a Swiss Army knife of MMA. He doesn’t have the grappling levels of his opponent, but should be strong enough to neutralise him on the mat. Tony’s elbows are particularly vicious and the damage he can inflict with both fighters upright looms as the difference here. Oliveira is a completely different fighter to Gaethje, who went toe-to-toe with Ferguson and bested him. Badly. I think Ferguson can stuff any early takedown attempts, leaving him poised to pressure Oliveira, stopping this before we get to the judges. Suggested Bet: Tony Ferguson by KO/TKO @ $3.50* *Odds correct as at 9pm, 10th December 2020. Market Market
