A leaky Australia defence has conceded eight goals in just two games so far and will need to tighten up against top quality opposition. Michelle Heyman’s introduction from the bench was the catalyst for a comeback 6-5 win over Zambia last time out, while fellow substitutes Kaitlyn Torpey and Clare Wheeler are pushing are also pushing for starts.

USA defender Tierna Davidson came off injured in the first half against Germany and Emily Sonnett is the obvious replacement. Mallory Swanson has scored three goals in two games, ably supported by Trinity Rodman and Sophia Smith in attack. However, with qualification to the knockout stage already guaranteed, coach Emma Hayes may choose to rest some stars and get minutes into fringe players.
