The Scout: EURO 2020 Day 10 Posted on June 20, 2021June 21, 2021 | Posted by The Scout Italy vs Wales The top two teams from Group A do battle as Italy host Wales in Rome. The Italians will be looking to maintain their perfect EURO 2020 record, while Wales just need to avoid disaster to progress (they’re three points and five goals clear of Switzerland). Wales’ 2-0 win over Turkey has put them in a prime position to advance into the knockout rounds. Their star Gareth Bale has started the tournament well, and although he missed a penalty against Turkey, he provided the assists to both Aaron Ramsey and Connor Roberts. Italy have looked the best team in the tournament through two games, banking back-to-back 3-0 wins over Switzerland and Turkey. Their win streak is now at 10 across all competitions and they’ve gone 29 matches without a loss. Simply unbelievable! Azzurri captain Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus) will miss this match due to injury, a huge loss for the Italian defense. Mancini may also look to rotate his squad given the position they find themselves in. I think both factors open the door for Wales (to score), but ultimately the Italians prove too good once again. SUGGESTED BET: Italy Win & Both Teams to Score @ $4* Switzerland vs Turkey The final match of Group A sees Switzerland take on Turkey at the Olympic Stadium, in Baku. This will be Turkey’s final game of EURO 2020, while Switzerland need to win, Wales to lose, and a five goal swing in goal differential. Tough! Switzerland let a lead slip against Wales, and may be left to rue that result after this game. The pressure is now on to perform, and to attack! Switzerland manager Vladimir Petković will look for an attacking formation which could see Xherdan Shaqiri again starting behind two strikers. Shaqiri has the experience, power and talent to be the x-factor that Switzerland need to progress to the knockout stages. Turkey have been one of the biggest disappointments of the tournament to date. Their lack of firepower has been evident (zero goals scored) and they are now left with nothing to play for but pride. I’m not sure the Swiss side can make up the difference they need, but it is going to be fun watching them try. SUGGESTED BET: Switzerland Win to Nil @ $3.10* *Odd correct as at 5pm, 19th June 2021.
