The Scout: A-League Week 4 Posted on December 10, 2021December 10, 2021 | Posted by The Scout Western United vs Brisbane Roar Western United sit in 4th place after back to back 1-0 win’s while their opponent the Brisbane Roar are yet to find a win in the A-League and are dead last. John Aloisi has his team playing with confidence with a game plan clearly centered around a strong defensive presence while always looking to counterattack swiftly. This was perfectly highlighted in their impressive 1-0 victory over the defending champions Melbourne City. The Roar are not travelling well and have lost back to back matches on the road before coming home and playing a 0-0 draw against Adelaide United. Brisbane has one clear issue and that is goal scoring and they have only scored one goal so far which came in their opening fixture. It’s incredibly hard to see anyway in which Brisbane can win this one, they will struggle against the structure and discipline of United’s defense and will be unable to find many goal scoring opportunities. Suggested Bet: Western United Win @ $2.40* Western Sydney Wanderers vs Macarthur FC Western Sydney (5th) takes on league leaders Macarthur FC in a Sydney Derby which will determine some early bragging rights between these two rivals. The Wanderers are undefeated so far this season with two draws in their opening fixtures before breaking through for their first win, a 2-0 victory over Phoenix. They are certainly a team on the rise and are starting to build nicely and will gain a lot of confidence from their win last week. Macarthur are also undefeated picking up two fantastic wins and a draw which has been enough to see them on top of the table. A huge concern for them however is that they will be playing without attacking midfielder and captain Ulises Dávila who suffered a knee injury last week. A defense-first mindset is always the strategy for Macarthur which should play into the hands of Western Sydney who can be aggressive from the start. Without Dávila, Macarthur will lack playmaking and this will be the difference as the Wanderers win this one. Suggested Bet: Western Sydney Win @ $2* Adelaide United vs Melbourne Victory Adelaide United (8th) are quickly becoming known as ‘draw’ specialists as they have had three straight draws in their opening matches this season. Melbourne Victory (3rd) are no longer undefeated as they had a disappointing 3-0 loss to Perth Glory last week. The Reds have had a very slow start to the season which was capped off by their 0-0 draw against Brisbane Roar last week. There was little imagination in this match and Adelaide really struggled to find goal scoring opportunities, lacking creativity up front. Tony Popovic’s Melbourne Victory can bounce back after a slip up against Perth and they will fancy their chances against Adelaide. Victory were unlucky to receive a red card against Glory which exposed their backline, unless this happens again, Adelaide will struggle to break through and find openings. Victory need discipline to ensure they do not give away another red card, if they can keep 11 men on the park they will have a great opportunity to smother Adelaide and get a win at a great price. Suggested Bet: Melbourne Victory Win @ $3.24* *Odds correct as at 8am, 10th December 2021. Market Market
