The Scout: A-League Week 22 Posted on April 8, 2022April 8, 2022 | Posted by The Scout Melbourne Victory vs Melbourne City Once again, we are blessed with another exciting Melbourne Derby featuring 3rd placed Melbourne Victory and 1st placed Melbourne City. The pair met in March in a match that was fiercely contested and resulted in a 1-1 stalemate. Melbourne City are now eight points clear of 2nd placed Western United and are storming towards another A-League. The offensive weapons of City have been on full display scoring 10 goals in their last two A-League matches. Despite the closeness of the last outing between these two rivals, you cannot go past the scintillating form of Melbourne City. They are clearly the best team in the league right now with Jamie Maclaren and Mathew Leckie scoring goals for fun. Suggested Bet: Melbourne City to Win @ $2* Central Coast Mariners vs Sydney FC Central Coast (8th) have started to find their feet and are now undefeated in their last seven A-League fixtures. Sydney FC (5th) have been hanging on by a thread having lost four of their last five matches. After a very slow start to the year, the Mariners have are currently one of the most in-form teams in the competition. The Mariners have a potent attack and can score goals in bunches. This was on full display in their last match against Wellington Phoenix, which saw them win 5-0. Sydney FC’s season may be on the line but after a string of poor results, they will have their hands full containing the red-hot Mariners. Suggested Bet: Central Coast to Win @ $2.95* Newcastle Jets vs Perth Glory The Newcastle Jets (9th) will be looking to get back to winning ways after a 2-0 loss to Brisbane in their last match, while the misery continues for Perth Glory (12th) who have now gone 11 straight matches without victory. Although it is a longshot, Newcastle still have hopes of a top six finish as they are only six points behind 6th placed Sydney FC. Everything must go the Jets’ but what better way to edge closer to this than coming up against the worst team in the league on home soil. Nothing is going right for the Glory. They cannot defend and at times look completely lost in attack. The Glory are down in confidence and have little to play for while the Jets have an outside chance at making the finals. Suggested Bet: Newcastle to Win @ $1.70* *Odds correct as at 8am, 8th April 2022. Market Market
