Scott Embry’s Wednesday Pinjarra Preview Posted on April 14, 2026April 14, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 CLEAR APPROVAL made his debut over 1200m at Ascot when a strong runner-up to Karrakatta Plate bound filly Rok N Rom. The first 600m was run 7L slower than average and as a backmarking type he was up against it from a long way out in a sit and sprint event. Thought he did a super job to work home into second and was screaming out for a set of blinkers as he raced ungenerously before the bend under the whip. Shades on, out to 1400m, entire Scarpside straight to wind-up and hails from the premier 2 year old stable in the State. Like this race for him. SAINTS N SINNERS comes through the same event and that does look the best form reference race on paper. Worked home nicely through traffic and gets CJP second-up. TIGERLAND ran second to Axopar last week and on the 7 day spin will again look to sit rearwards and attack late. AWE INSPIRED defied her 250-1 SP on debut to run a much better race than key rival Playing Solo. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – CLEAR APPROVAL WIN RACE 2 CEYONE is a daughter of Playing God out of a mare who won an Asian Beau and ran second to Luckygray in a Railway Stakes. Surprisingly she wasn’t that expensive as a $75,000 Yearling Purchase and her trials and race debut suggest that she’ll make the grade. Like the Melody Fair / Octothorpe / Desert Ora race as a form reference and with the benefit of race day experience as well as a few minor gear adjustments, think she can run a cheeky race on the eachway. BONDITRAM went within a head of victory last start and the first-up run behind now C1 winner and Saturday placed 3 year old Roaming America reads up really well. Back down 2.5kg with Jefferson Tsang on board and maps to get every chance. MAYTHISBETHEONE was scratched at Pinjarra on the 12th of March and is now presented 7 weeks between outings. She’s got a positive racing pattern and should have no troubles finding the top on a track that can suit leaders, however, there’s an underlying query on whether she runs out a strong 1200? BOUTIQUE BELLE is yet to really stand up vs SP? Numbers: 12 – 4 – 9 – 11 Suggested Bet – CEYONE WIN RACE 3 FREE TO FLY ran second to Joyoh at 1000m first-up (with subsequent winner Kanas Mtoto back in fourth) and then second-up covered plenty of additional ground when brave in defeat behind Belaura Star and I’m A Soulman. The issue is obvious: where does CJP get to from the draw? Does he chance his hand early and slide forward or does he take his medicine and go back? Think this is a weaker race than the first-up and second-up assignments but there’s a nagging doubt over where she gets? MYSTERIOUS FORTUNE looks to have the early speed to hold up and Paul Harvey leading is a hard man to get past. First opportunity we’ve had so far in his return to be reminded of that fact. GETS THE GIRLS was super last start at 70-1 and the form is on show in the previous through Ceyone. 21 start maiden though so a little hard to trust him to reproduce. CELEBRITY ANGEL tries hard and had no luck first-up. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – FREE TO FLY WIN RACE 4 SHIMMERY STAR is closing in rapidly on a first victory. First-up ran well enough behind talented stablemate Peter Gunn and now Saturday winner Wheely, second-up held her own in a 3 year old 0MWLY behind Peaceful Ruler and Swift Talker and third-up she battled on well behind Spellborn and Arizona Sky (who both look more than handy). Should get across from her middle draw and landing on speed she’ll take running down. SHOW ON THE ROAD flopped first-up at Esperance as a $4 chance but bounced back big time second-up at Pinjarra behind Wheely. With Wheely heading straight to a Saturday 3 year old Plate and winning again it makes him attractive as an eachway proposition (apart from the barrier!). FORGOTTEN SON has placed in his last two outings and will enjoy a near identical run in transit to those occasions here. EFFORTLESSLY has run fourth at both starts this campaign and they’ve both had merit. The step up to 1400m looks to be in her favour and Pike is added. Numbers: 11 – 3 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – SHIMMERY STAR WIN RACE 5 JOYOH won first-up, no trial off 84 days at 1000m and second-up went straight to a Saturday race and straight out to 1400m. She was beaten nearly 5L behind Wheely, Peaceful Ruler and So Si God but she had absolutely no luck, unable to gain a flow into the race or any real galloping room for the majority of the home straight. Saturday grade back to Wednesday grade, only rises 1kg start to start and Pike jumps on. Has the hallmarks of a plunge horse? PUBLICISE has ability but must have some issues? Beaten 12L on debut, beaten 7.5L first-up, beaten 7L last start – she’s a little all or nothing at this stage of her career. If she can bounce back to her best this is winnable for her and she’ll probably start a ridiculous price. SO MUCH SERENITY went around under $3 last start and was bitterly disappointing. 4 weeks later she’s dropping 1.5kg into a suitable race. HASANI is proven at this level. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – JOYOH WIN RACE 6 HOPE TO RULE nearly beat Precious God in a C3 1500m two back and then overdid it out in front last start in a Westspeed Platinum last start at Ascot. She’s going really well (like the entirety of Stef Vahala’s team) and she should be able to work her way to the top here without absorbing too much pressure. She drops 1.5kg into what looks a weaker race on paper start to start and that should give her a big opportunity to win again. QUEEN ARIA finished 2.4L off Searchin’ Times and Defending, then 3.4L off Desert Life. There’s nothing with the ability levels of those gallopers in this line-up. Good race for her. HOWDY was a sharp improver last start dropping back to C3 company and with Fifth Essence winning on Saturday the form has certainly been franked. TOUSLED CROWN was a strong winner in a C2 at Albany two back and then wasn’t disgraced in a blanket finish in a C3 at Ascot most recently. Shades on first time and is tactically versatile. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – HOPE TO RULE WIN RACE 7 SUNBRONZED has had a 60 day freshen since enduring a tough run in a 60+ Graduation at Pinjarra on Magic Millions Day. He’s an honest customer who is rarely far from the mark in this type of grade, and after winning a Grad in May 2025 he hit a peak Metro rating of m71 and has since dropped right back down to a m65. Open and even contest where you could make a case for the vast majority of runners. He’s one of many chances. GOD HAS DRIFTED has won his last two in style at Albany by a combined 3L margin. 3 back the fence at Scarpside is poisonous – so fingers crossed Natika Riordan can use his tactical speed to lob into a position early. CORNER OFF made a really encouraging WA Debut and there looks to be a three deep line for Lucy Fiore to track up into. MIGHTY HOSANNA will need to step cleanly because there’s plenty of other speed in this race. She’s a different horse with the fence to follow. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet – SUNBRONZED EACHWAY RACE 8 SKY POET won at Pinjarra on the Scarpside on debut when he just kept coming under pressure from Tash Faithfull to run over the top of Batista and About Turn. Certainly looks like 1600m is at the lower end of his distance range but like the placement back into his right Class One grade. Finished off well enough behind Peter Gunn and subsequent 60+ Graduation winner Fifth Essence to suggest that he’s the one to hold out here. ICANDOIT ONMYOWN is on the 4 day back-up. The last time she backed up off 6 days she split the now WATC Derby quinella in Sentimental Legend and Tahni Talk. Big watch. ROSENTREA has come back a different horse this campaign. She was 0/21 and now looks like she’ll be winning a second race in the very near future. SAXON JEWEL will roll forward and be put into the contest. Honesty type who gives 110%. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – SKY POET WIN Market Market
