Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on November 29, 2022March 10, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MEGAMI skipped right away from them in a 1650m maiden at Belmont Park only 6 days after an emphatic Monday trial victory. She’s a hard going mare but with her racing pattern she’ll be winning plenty of races. William Pike sticks, small field means she can roll to the top and dictate and from the 600 she’ll try to sneak away from them. DEMOLISH looms as the obvious danger. From barrier 2 he can track her every move and keep within striking distance. WOZZECK runs his races in patches but looks like he’ll get ground. CRUISEY ROY was very wayward at Northam but still managed to hold out Madame Magic. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – MEGAMI WIN Same Race Multi – Megami (Top 2) + Demolish (Top 3) + Wozzeck (Top 4) RACE 2 QUINDANDINO tracked into the race three deep with cover first-up no trial (latest trial was in June) and swept to the lead on straightening. Was gunned down over the concluding stages by Ciao Luna (subsequent C1 winner) and Cruisey Roy (subsequent 3 year old 0MWLY winner). Looks the right form and if he can roll forward to park up outside of Trigger Finger he should go well. SOLID GOLD resumes without a trial. Has solid 2 year old form and no weight on his back after the claim of Luke Campbell. POUAKAI ran well after a long absence and expect that the Grey Mistress, Military Power form will hold up. IDLE TALK trialled like a horse who would be going close first-up. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – QUINDANDINO WIN RACE 3 SCENIC ECLIPSE ran well on debut in a hard and fast Northam maiden. The overall race time was 3.5L faster than average and Scenic Eclipse was holding her own late and through the line. Should be improved for the experience, should get a similar run in transit, drops an extra kilo and looks suited with an extra 100m. Shouldn’t be a maiden too long. JUST GOT PAID makes his debut off the back of a nice 950m trial. Was working through his gears nicely late in the piece and could well find himself in front in this. Big respect. PICCADILLY ROSE wasn’t disgraced in a 3 year old 0MWLY first-up. Don’t rule out at odds. PRINCE I THINK may be looking for further but has a level of ability. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – SCENIC ECLIPSE WIN RACE 4 UNINOOK was a really good 1200m trial and then met with plenty of support on debut when running into a sharp one in China Spirit. China Spirit went straight from that maiden into the Sir Ernest Lee-Steere Classic last weekend and Uninook looks to have found a winnable maiden. Just needs an ounce of luck from a tricky draw. CAVALLO RED can sit parked midfield with cover and has the cutaway available if needed. Looks to be building. MASTER ALEX had no luck when resuming parked wide throughout. ROCKON MOLLY continues to race well without winning. Numbers: 10 – 7 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – UNINOOK WIN RACE 5 MISS DRAKOVA won her maiden in style when resuming and went straight into the Burgess Queen Stakes when finishing third behind Laced Up Heels and Amelia’s Jewel. Laced Up Heels then ran second in the Champion Fillies & Amelia’s Jewel beat Bustler to take out the WA Guineas and now looms large in the Group One Northerly. Back to 1300, back to midweek company and drawn a gate to sit up over the speed. Hard to fault. KICK A GOAL SON has been flying on the provincial and country circuit. Drops back into a C3 and is racing particularly well. AIRLIE QUEEN will get a soft run close handy. MOSQUITO is better than he showed fresh. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – MISS DRAKOVA WIN RACE 6 SKY DUKE looks just about ready to return to the winner’s circle. Placed at all three runs this time in and most recently was only narrowly defeated by handy sprinter Lexington City and was narrowly knocked off again in the Stewards Room when the protest was dismissed. Drawn to either lead or box seat and gets his chance in a moderate line-up of C1 gallopers. BELLE’S FANTASY did it tough out three deep at Northam but at the same time they were only walking. Drawn far better and Paul Harvey jumps on. NATURAL AIRCHIEF ran past her late in the same race. LADY TORNADO will need luck. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – SKY DUKE WIN RACE 7 PLAYING UP finished second to Zadar Rock two starts ago (since won the Apprentices’ Cup), finished only 2L off Surveillance (winner again since) at Northam in a C5 1600 two starts ago and then finished off strongly late behind track/distance specialist Missalfie at York over 1920 most recently. She’ll settle rearwards and wind up. Going well enough at the eachway quote. CIRCUS STAR has had to go straight from a maiden into C3 company to find the right races. Dangerous late if the cutaway is on. MIETTE STAR has run them into the ground at her last two at York. Those 46+ races are extremely weak and she steps up to 1700m. UNIVERSAL VAIN comes into this fresh. Has been going well for Karen Kersley and runs for Laqdar. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 4 – 12 Suggested Bet – PLAYING UP EACHWAY RACE 8 ON THE FULL is only a C1 galloper but he looks to have plenty of upside and a future. His trial was matching motors with Tadweer and they skipped right away from the rest in sharp time. He can jump and bounce on top of the speed and looks to have the ability to put a few together this campaign. Lightly raced and progressive. GLASGOW GIRL is suited in these 0MWLY races. Capable mare on her day. SUNNYSILK’s racing pattern makes her hard to follow. She’ll need conditions to suit. GINGER JONES was truck loaded at his WA debut. Money missed badly. Shades go on at start two in the West. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – ON THE FULL WIN Market Market
