Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on August 20, 2024August 20, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 STAR SUPREME impressed at trials winning by a soft 5L margin in slick time (comparative to the rest of the trial meeting). She looked to handle the wet conditions well and she is the half sister to winning machine Express Time (11x winner). Sure to go well on debut. THE TOP BAR has the race experience on his side. He was a bit green and wayward and after a 39 day freshen has been back to trials. THIS’LL SHOW YA finally broke through last start but is a small filly with 58.5kg on her back. NICELY PLAYED only improves second-up and drops out of a Saturday race. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – STAR SUPREME WIN RACE 2 ALLENTOWN was really strong in betting on debut off only a 400m jump out in what looked a pretty decent and deep maiden at Northam. That race also contained This’ll Show Ya and Great Emotion who had strong race and trial form respectively. Should naturally improve for race experience and fitness and actually drops 1.5kg taking on the older horses in an all-age maiden. Maps a treat and looks hard to beat. AUTHORATIVE has his first start for new trainer Tara Itzstein and has trialled well with the shades removed. KIMBERLEY CURRENCY is speed and holds a prominent spot in running. AMAROO STAR burst through nicely at trials and goes straight to the races. Numbers: 11 – 3 – 2 – 12 Suggested Bet – ALLENTOWN WIN RACE 3 AUDREY GRACE drops into a C1 for the first time in her WA career. At her first outing for Mitch Pateman she loomed large before finishing fourth behind Extreme Love in a C3, second-up she went to a 0MWLY and finished within 2.5L off undefeated mare Toropa and now she’s back to a C1. Her only win was third-up and that day she had a tongue tie (added to gear here). Placement and timing looks right. CHARLIE JANE hit the line powerfully behind a very talented horse in Bravo Centurion last week. HAMPEZE and NATURAL GEM are both honest mares who will be finishing off strongly late. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – AUDREY GRACE WIN RACE 4 CANNY ROCK only broke his maiden in a headbobber when narrowly edging out Bird On A Wire, however, since then he has finished third behind Miss Drakova and Tenacious Reward and then third behind Toropa and Galaxy Affair. Back to a C1 for the first time, on speed horse, loves the wet tracks and goes around eachway in what looks a very competitive race. FAMOUS DAIN bolted in his trial and gave Trio a beating on that occasion. TALK TO WYN may have won at 50-1 on debut but the form out of that race continues to hold up. PLAYBALL got the right run last week but erupted late. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – CANNY ROCK EACHWAY RACE 5 ISHKUR and MINE HOST are both off the 7 day back-up from narrow defeats behind Looks in a high speed, high pressure 1400 on rain affected going. That should put them in a strong position here over 1650m and both are seemingly thriving in the conditions. Doubt there’s much between them (in the market or the race). Fence good or fence bad probably determines the fate of Ishkur. GREAT DEMON is a nice horse but he failed to handle the Soft7 last start which is concerning? GOLD MERITS always runs well in C3 company. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – ISHKUR EACHWAY RACE 6 TRIPLE JAY steps out past 1400m for the first time in his career and while 1650m is always going to be an unknown and a concern, he is mapped to get the softest lead here. He is the only speed horse in the race so expecting that Brad Parnham can glide his way to the top, control, dictate and then sprint for home whenever he likes. Hard to beat. ADMIRATION EXPRESS bounced back to somewhere near her best last start. Great to see her back. DESENNEA gets a soft run and has always promised to reach this level. UPPER LIMITS rarely runs a bad race. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – TRIPLE JAY WIN RACE 7 BAMBUN BOY should land in a handy spot in a very thin C3 2100. He can mix his form but if he was to reproduce the effort behind Citino in a 63+ from four back or the effort behind Super Romani and Queen Of Jerusalem two back then he wouldn’t be without a chance. Realistically nearly anything in this race could win and it wouldn’t surprise. MR TALENTINO comes through a ridiculously slowly run event. Overall race time 9L slower than average, but he won with authority. FLASH PADDY and BLUE CARD both caught the eye in a Saturday race behind emerging staying type Cosmic Chaos last time out. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – BAMBUN BOY EACHWAY RACE 8 SNAZZLER comes into barrier 6 in a transferred Saturday race which has been decimated by scratchings. He won with 61kg last start in an extremely fast run race that has already produced a plunge winner in Looks since. He’s proven in the wet, he’s a proven weight carrier and Lucy Fiore is unstoppable at the minute. ARCADIA KNIGHT comes through the same race and was equally as good. His only win was in blinkers which are added to his gear here and he was the most popular horse in early betting Saturday. KERMAN ROCK can roll to the top and control. ICEBERGS was a nice return and is versatile. Numbers: 2 – 10 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – SNAZZLER EACHWAY RACE 9 PRINCESS IN RED looks to have found a lovely race in which to return a winner. After winning a C3 F&M 1400 last preparation she went to a pair of 60+ Graduation races where she raced without any luck. Her recent trials have been solid and she gets in with only 53kg after the claim for Luke Campbell. Nice set up for her. ENTICING doesn’t win out of turn but he’s a previous 7 day winner and his recent runs have all had merit. DIVINE FLIRT is consistently thereabouts and can roll forward. IN GOOD ORDER can sprint well fresh as a staying type resuming. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – PRINCESS IN RED WIN RACE 10 SENTIMENTAL BELLE opened $2.20 for last Saturday’s race, she’s opened $1.60 in the exact same race on Wednesday. With Silver Eye being plunged (again) for victory on Saturday the form jumps off the page and she’s looking for her fourth straight win and five of her last six. The way she’s going it’s hard to see 58.5kg stopping her. FLURO NEURO is hard to catch but on his day he’s got the X-Factor to topple the stablemate. BRAVE STRIKE has returned in good order. PROBITY gets conditions to suit. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – SENTIMENTAL BELLE WIN Quaddie (Race 7 – 10) 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,11 2,3,5,7,8,10 8,9 2 Market Market
