Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on November 9, 2021November 9, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 CISCOJOE was caught deep last start and never really made an impression on the race. Flower In The Wind was in the same race and similarly didn’t fire a shot, she won at her next start and Advanced was well supported in a Saturday 3 year old Grad. Thinking it’s a strong enough maiden form reference and following up again given the impressive trials and the strong debut performance. SOLDER has caught the eye in both trials. The first was a long way back and held up for runs the entire home straight. Second trial loomed large under little riding. WITHOUT REG should land on the front and from there he can give some serious cheek. Worked hard throughout last start. GREAT FORTUNE returns a gelding and showed on debut he’ll be winning races. Brock Lewthwaite can get them to go first-up without a trial. Numbers: 3 – 10 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – CISCOJOE WIN RACE 2 ART WARRIOR brings intrigue first-up at 1500m. On debut went around a $10 chance and hit the line nicely behind Free Solo on a Soft7. From there was thrown in the deep end and contested the Belmont Guineas (fifth behind Sheza Chalmer, Kerman Rock, Fri For Us and Billy Aint Silly, beating home Chili Is Hot) and then went to the Aquanita Stakes at start number three. Didn’t mind his recent trial over 950 for a horse who resumes at 1500 and this isn’t an overly deep race. ROCH LEGACY made steady late ground out deep in a race which was dominated from on speed and on fence. Pike jumps aboard and he should get the softest of runs. DANNEMORA is building towards a win. PAIGEY’S TURN finished off well through heavy traffic fresh. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – ART WARRIOR WIN RACE 3 CROSS STATEMENT has shown above average ability in every start so far in his short career (forgiving his Cardiac Arrythmia run and his no blinkers run). First-up he lead them at 1200m and only went down in the final 100m to Mercanto who is now a subsequent C3 winner and clearly destined for bigger and better things. Cross Statement should lead them from the inside gate and from there Holly Watson will have him out and running. POWERFUL looks like getting the tow ball run leader’s back and from there with a cutaway is a legitimate danger. WRITTEN EXCEED stopped noticeably late on Cup Day. Few key gear changes made. THE HAITIAN POET will sit back and be saved for one last crack at them. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – CROSS STATEMENT WIN RACE 4 SAFETY BAY comes from a strong C3 behind Mercanto and Trevern. Going into that race Trevern had won two in a row and Mercanto nailed them late to make it two in a row for him as well. Prior to that Safety Bay had beaten Stellar Vista, beaten Ginger Flyer and endured a tough run in a 66+ when racing outside the handicap. In career best form and should be allowed to control the race without much pressure at all. STELLAR VISTA has been a wallet burner for punters and Simon Miller tries another new rider in an attempt to get her to go straight. Gets a 4kg weight swing on Safety Bay for their first-up encounter and is clearly talented. DOOWAHDIDDY is looking to record a hattrick of wins and is starting to fulfil the potential she showed early. SUN CHACEN is rarely far from the winner. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – SAFETY BAY WIN RACE 5 PAT’S GOT SASS brings the 3 year old feature form into a 60+ Special Conditions handicap. First-up in the 3 year old Classic she finished sixth behind Liwa, Spin The Knife, Ponyo, Ruthless Tycoon and Sniparoochy (beating home Arcadia Grace, Flying Missile, Desert Vixen, He’s Gold and Hoi An) and then second-up in the Belgravia finished a fairly moderate and disappointing eighth. The Belgravia form is hot – Searchin’ Roc’s, It’sarayday, Flying Missile all subsequent top 3 finishers in the Burgess Queen/Fairetha. Should get a gun run and interesting to see how she measures up. ON RED ALERT brings the God Has Chosen form which many punters will be keen to follow. Every chance from the inside gate with a cutaway. NATIVE CHIMES is going well. HIGH MIST was huge last start. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – PAT’S GOT SASS WIN RACE 6 JARMAN gives claiming apprentice Victoria Corver a wonderful chance to pick up a metro victory midweek. Since going to Kalgoorlie three starts ago on Cup Day and winning a 60+ Graduation he has finished second to Spritely Star and second to Jadavi in back to back Saturday 60+ Grads. Drops back into a C3 and after the claim carries the same weight back in grade. From the draw gets every chance in a moderate race. REGAL CITY backed up from Hannans Day to Cup Day and won. Beware on the 4 day spin around. THERE’S A THOUGHT can shoot up the cutaway late. ALIMENTARIA was poor last start. Solid prior. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – JARMAN WIN RACE 7 DARK LASS won a C3 last start, stays in the same grade and actually drops 3kg in weight with the claim of Jett Stanley. With plenty of horses drawn awkwardly there is likely to be a three deep train and he can join in whenever it suits. Looks like a similar kind of map to Pure Devotion on the weekend and he gave her a peach. Handy enough mare on the rise taking on very evenly graded opposition. CABLE GUY has always shown glimpses. Starting to put it all together and he won well at Northam last start. PAMBELLA Pambella’d punters last week. Two of her last four she has thrown away. RIP Trust. BEANIE is going super. Just needs some luck from a really tough draw. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – DARK LASS WIN RACE 8 MY DILEMMA showed a great turn of acceleration last start to shoot up the inside and score an emphatic victory. There will naturally be queries on the quality of what she beat (Noble Scot couldn’t get the job done in a maiden handicap at York on Sunday) and the fact she never went around a single horse, however, her trial, her first-up run and her win suggest she’s got above average ability. Looks capable of going back to back. MY SQUEEZE LOUISE was fair at her WA debut. Looked very one paced and should only get better as MR Peter Fernie steps her out over further. RED CADILLAC was charging late at Geraldton. In form mare with a turn of foot. Should be suited to cutaway racing. BRAVE CALL’s only career win was off 7 days and on the back-up he will have fans. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – MY DILEMMA WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,7 1,3,5,6 FD 3,8,10 Market Market
