Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on March 10, 2026March 10, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 NISTIRITH is testing the patience of punters having run four consecutive bridesmaid races, however, if she’s ever going to win one it looks like being: 1) Ascot, 2) 1000m, 3) rail out; and 4) Easterly breeze at her back. She gets all four of those conditions here and should wheel the bend in front over the short course and take running down. MAMMA SAYS SO will be at the other end of proceedings and hoping that she she’s paddling up late to swoop over the top. The mare who beat her last start won again in a C2 at Albany impressively on Sunday. ROAMING AMERICA gets a lovely run close handy and improves second-up. BOUTIQUE BELLE will get further but on the fresh side off the back of a solid trial must be respected. If she can hold a spot from the draw she’ll be strong late. Numbers: 7 – 9 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – NISTIRITH WIN RACE 2 WIN FOR BUSTER will certainly divide opinions, especially considering: A) he’s now missed the money twice at odds on; and B) he’s back to 1000m second-up after resuming at 1300. I’m a believer off his trials and debut run alongside subsequently Champion Fillies placed Fine Star but even with Pike and shades and a barrier, wary about entertaining even money? MY TESTIMONY like Nistirith in Race 1 is no star but she’s quick and she’s only got 52kg on her back. Leads from barrier 1, has the Easterly breeze at her back and will be on another jump and run mission. LATINA MELODY trialled up well for her debut and should be able to hold a spot close hand. CACHACA is another who can use the gate to advantage and looks to have a nice natural cruising speed. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 11 – 5 Suggested Bet – WIN FOR BUSTER WIN RACE 3 BEAU’S A LAD doesn’t look a natural short course horse, but given he finished less than 4L off Watto’s Mark and subsequent winner Swingman, and less than half a length off Ripper Rupert and Castle Road in a 3 year old Saturday he does looks hard to tip against in a C1 midweeker. Pads off another bonus and should lob a lovely spot from the draw. SLIP THE JAB was ridden cold (from the trainer and jockey interviews – was intention but also a happy result of being a bit slow away) and he then travelled really keenly and bolted in once clear. It was a dominant win and that of a lightly raced 3 year old who might just be able to work his way through the grades with a new racing pattern. RIPPER FAROOQ is finding it hard to win. Hopefully shades fire him up. ORDER ONLINE was a sharp trial but draws sticky. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – BEAU’S A LAD WIN RACE 4 RIPPER RUPERT got too far out of his ground last start in the Watto’s Mark / Swingman / Beau’s A Lad race that is on show in Race 3. He has won two races this campaign, both from barrier 1, both from the box seat and that’s exactly where he maps here. Speed will be on to suit and he’s got a short, sharp kick suited to drawing low. Think he’ll be hard to hold out late with even luck. LUCKY I AM was a good thing beat in the end last Wednesday at Belmont. She missed the kick, got back into an unfamiliar position in running and was weaving a strong passage through traffic late. If she jumps, game on. NICCIMOTA is the way that Chanel Cooper goes (or Team Taylor book?). Honest mare who rarely runs a bad race and was within 1L of Santanova in a 66+ last time out. HEZANGELIC gets a rare senior rider. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – RIPPER RUPERT WIN RACE 5 MISTRESS OF WAR should be able to roll forward and cross these. In her last three outings she has won a C1 1700 from the breeze going 5L faster than average, won a C3 1800 from the breeze going 5L faster than average and then sat in the breeze in a C3 1800 where they’ve stopped the clock a staggering 13.5L faster than average. She’s done a huge job to finish within 2.5L of them when the leaders were off their feet at the 600. Like 4 weeks between runs, like the lack of speed and pressure in this event. Can bounce back. STREAK OF GOD has far more upside and progression to him as a 3 year old and as we saw last week with stablemate Sentimental Legend – he might still be headed to a Melvista / WATC Derby after this. Big respect. ENDLESS JOY continues to hit the line hard. BLACK FOR CASH gets weight relief but isn’t an easy horse to ride. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – MISTRESS OF WAR EACHWAY RACE 6 JUST LEROY has been a model of consistency since they’ve ridden him for speed. He has now settled in the first 4 at 7 career outings and finished in the money at 6/7. He’s split subsequent winners Yougivemechills and True Player fresh and then run another honest minor to Yougivemechills on a Saturday in a 60+ Grad. Going super and always seems to be eachway. DEFENDING just can’t take a trick. Was attacked by a 200-1 pop last start and they went the first 1000m 10L faster than average. Was in all sorts from there on. FEY KING has returned in great order considering he was only the winner of a 2200m maiden with his previous trainer and didn’t race for 846 days! BAMBUN BOY caught the eye fresh and then wasn’t disgraced in a 66+ second-up. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet – JUST LEROY EACHWAY RACE 7 QUEEN OF JERUSALEM might be going off a start early, but at the price, in this grade, she’s worth pulling the trigger. She has now dropped 6 points in her last five outings to her lowest rating since July 2024, and her last 12 starts have been in higher grade. Her last win was fifth-up in a 66+ so considering she’s fourth-up we might be a start soon but this 54+ looks a great race for her after the 2kg Nottle claim. This should be ~$5.50 the field and has 6/7 (at least) winning chances. ETERNAL ROMANCE is a last start winner of a near identical race to this, as is ROYAL SPLENDOUR who had blinkers and a senior applied last start and after being well found in the market duly saluted. SAVORSKI missed away last start and was under the whip after 100m. All things considered it wasn’t a bad effort, but he does have some tricks. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – QUEEN OF JERUSALEM EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,4,8 3,5 3,6,10 1,2,6,10,11,12 Market Market
