At the same time one of the main reasons he’s been so good is that he’s done things so, so wrong. He has been missing away, settling rearwards and charging to the line. Risk vs Reward from a betting proposition but watching his replays it’s hard to tip last him here. YAKYAK was a nice return to racing and should keep improving into the preparation. BIG NOTER was the target of decent money at his first-up run but failed to fire a shot. WOUNDED TROOPER joins Freddo Brown and has run a cheeky race from time to time. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – MR HOLLYWOOD WIN RACE 2 TRUE CHANCE was a super run 18 days ago. He was held up many times in the home straight and his last 200m was the best of anything in the field. Has to reproduce but if he does he’ll be hard to hold out. PERT REMARKS was $61 into $10 first-up for the new stable and ran third behind Sister Kate. Second-up was the complete other way in betting drifting from $3.80 out to $7 and was run down by a 100-1 pop who put a gap on them over the last 100m. Hard to line up that form. LET IT GO RUPERT has been hard in the market at both runs since arriving in Esperance. Have to respect the money that’s coming his way. PURE QUALITY should be a nice maiden for the region. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 7 – 13 Suggested Bet – TRUE CHANCE WIN RACE 3 GINGER JONES isn’t a 1200m horse or a 1300m horse. So considering he’s given cheek at the most recent meeting and gone down only 1L happy to suggest that back to 1100m he’ll be hard to run down. Just needs to get himself up the track in the home straight. WESTERNIZE dropped back into a 58+ last meeting and got the job done impressively. He showed first-up behind stablemates Boozeroo and subsequent winner Al Quepone that he can match it with the 70+ animals. NOBLE REFELCTION was much better last week. Building. BOOZEROO has had a great start to his preparation. Numbers: 4 – 10 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – GINGER JONES WIN RACE 4 SYMPHONY IN RED should be really well suited to the Esperance style of racing. She can be ridden quiet from the gate and allowed to find her feet before getting to the outside and letting rip late. Like this race for her. LOST SMILE has returned in consistent order. The Talk Softly form continues to hold up and Vic Corver can have him poised and ready to strike on straightening. BONDI BUBBLES went from a maiden straight into a C2 and won back to back races. Not many do that and watching the replay it’s still hard to believe he’s got up and over them in the late stages. NITRO FRED is a jump and run type. Numbers: 10 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – SYMPHONY IN RED WIN RACE 5 LUCKY FOO FOO had her first run in over a month when beaten 1L by Boozeroo last start. Often at Esperance drawing wide is better than drawing in close and for Keshaw Dhurun he can park the mare off the fence and allow her to work into the race. TALK SOFTLY has won back to back C2 races since resuming and should be able to work forward into a prominent position. The way he’s going he’ll measure up at 58+ grade. JUST STRIKING wasn’t bad last start when you consider the path he followed. MARKET STRYKE is the class runner and wasn’t horrible fresh. Numbers: 11 – 10 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – LUCKY FOO FOO EACHWAY RACE 6 HEAR MY PRAYER would have been a good thing beat if the gaps didn’t eventually open for him 10 days ago. He was travelling and then when he got clear air he exploded for an impressive win. Think he can go back to back now that he’s won a race and now that Darryn Pateman is starting to figure him out. BELLE’S FANTASY can settle closer from the more favourable draw. HOT PUDDIN’ won his maiden well but this is a fair bit tougher. DEEP POINT had his first start for Darryn Pateman and caught the eye late behind Bondi Bubbles. Racing like he wants 1400. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – HEAR MY PRAYER WIN RACE 7 LINCOLNS LAW and FRANKIE BLUE EYES did battle last start in a 58+ 1400. They’re both arugbaly even better suited over 1600m and they both should get the runs they need to produce their best. Hard to go past LINCOLN’S LAW off their last start encounter. ALBERT heads down to Esperance and carries only 56.5kg after the ZJP claim. He’s yet to prove himself at a mile but once he gets rolling and into a rhythm he can be hard to stop. COUNT GRUNDY hasn’t raced for 45 days so is fresh at a mile. Not an easy task, especially with 60kg but did win a 58+ 1760 at Kalgoorlie only four starts ago impressively.
